Installed these? I'm seeing a rather large spread in prices-anywhere from $49.95 USD from one forum vendor to 99.95 USD to 141 USD (for the painted version). Quality difference?? or are we paying big $$ for the paint which I can probably paint/clearcoat myself. Thanks Crew!

Your paying for the paint Wilf . I have done a bunch of these C5 & C6 .
You can buy a 1 step can with the clear already in for around $30. If you need a paint code let me lnow I have them all from 1953 to present.

I bought them from Gene Culley for approx $95 US in black (for all 4).

Easy to install - in black they are hardly noticeable....

But if you like red, Manny's your man...

It's not the paint quality I'm looking for. It's the quality of the origininal product. We paint $3 to $10 million USD helicopters every week, so the paint finnish isn't an issue.

Wilf

I went with the GM pieces - of course they fit perfectly and are mounted with both 3M tape and the plastic "plugs" that hold the inner fenders in place. Quite secure.

I looked at the ones "Ed" sells from pipedreams (forum vendor) that he sells for about $40 - but they are just simple pieces of thin black plastic in the shape of triangles - not very impressed...

After searching around for a bit, I went with the GM versions...

Wilf, I have a brand net set of OEM C6 Z06 splash guards that I was going to install on my C5 Z06 but have since decided not to. I have them at Manny's and I paid $106.00 U.S plus etc etc but if you want them I'll sell them for the same price we exchanged for the gears? If you want them let me know. I have to go to Manny's b/c I have to drop off one piece to finish. If my pricing is off base let me know as I have not priced these parts either since I bought them in the spring.

You've piqued my curiosity. Can you point us to a website to see these parts or perhaps PM me if directed websites are no longer permitted. Thanks.

Aren't splash guards only good in the rain? Don't drive in the rain and if you're concerned about paint chips, just repaint, you Bitches have money...use it.

Les, i bought those too but have not installed as we C5 folks have to trim/cut to fit on our cars, but trust me they r handy specially at the drag strip after burn out, those small rubber/smoke sticks to rear bumpers, u can avoid some not all tho. I paid $95 USD few months ago.

I've seen guys use painter's masking tape as it peels off easily. I agree that it cuts the lines. I love washing and detailing my board anyway (must be deranged).

Les they come in real handy for freshly tar and chip roads, keeps the tar off the roof somewhat,
But let me tell you, those small stones inside the rim sound worse then scratchin' a chalk board.
Plus they keep some crud off of the side of the car,
I have Ed's mud guards and for the most part you do not even know they are there,

Do you have the paint code for 2006 Monterey Red? Where can I find the paint code on the car itself. Also, where can you buy a spray can of paint with the clear mixed in it? Thanks

When you guys paint these are you using standard base/clear or are you using a flex paint like bumper paint to help prevent cracking and chipping?

Its a standard mix . Once they are on there is no real flexing . I had my set on all summer with no cracks or chips . The only way to have them with a flex agent is to do them with 2 part or 3 part paint .

Painting them makes them stand out - if you don't want people to notice them,

LEAVE THEM BLACK!!!

I bought a set from Gene Culley and could not be happier with them. They fit the car so well it is hard to notice that you have "mud flaps". The rears are bit trickier to install and a number of people complain about a "slight gap". When installing the rears have a friend help you. One person puts the mud flaps exactly where they fit the best and holds them snug against the car. The other person drills out the holes and places the retainers in. This will ensure a perfect fit as the flaps are in the perfect position the entire time.
