Default Lord, give me strength

Just an update on my progress:

I removed the headers welded in two O2 sensor bungs one in each header collector then repainted the ceramic coated headers with VHT high heat header paint. I reinstalled the headers and started installing the Pypes Exhaust. That's where the nightmare starts, I played with this exhaust for about 5 hours and no matter how I changed the angle or fit, it's fighting me all the way. It touches the underbody, cross member, spare tire carrier in so many areas I can't understand how they say this is a bolt on exhaust. I got so frustrated I decided to take apart the e-brake and rebuilt that. For those that know C3 e-brake's you know how much fun I'm having with that also.

I know.......I know.........take a break and start fresh again................ya........ok, maybe in 19 more years.

Rant off!!!!

PS........Aamir, I know exactly how you feel.

Yup. Had same issues with my MAD chambered exhaust system. Bolt on my a$$. Had to pay a shop a couple of hundred to cut/weld them.

I didn't realize I had already posted about having exhaust problems before since I just started installing it this week. Sorry for beating a dead horse there Gary. I won't say another word.

Frank: It wasn't you beating a dead horse, it was me.

My opinion re using SS exhausts and how they fit and hard to work with.

Check my header install pics at www.photobucket.com/samiz06.

I can understand ur pain, i spent straight with no lunch or dinner .....15-16 hrs, and that in condo underground parking, waaay too much suffocation. If i had a garage prolly i would live in there.

Frank I know what you mean, the Corvette Central system I installed was a piece of crap. Had to go to a muffler shop to have some new front pipes bent and system attached properly.

I have to give you credit Sam, you have determination. I appreciate the offer to help but what I need more is a solution to my problem which at the moment is in the picture below, I can deal with the rest of the exhaust but can't for the life of me figure this one out.

They claim that this is a bolt on system, I can't figure out how it can be.

I appreciate any suggestion:

I reread the instruction over a dozen time but regardless, I switched the front mandral bend pipes at the tranny, turned them around, upside down. I switch the X-Pipe upside down, turned it around. I tried as many variables as possible. I loosened the collector and move it around. I cut different lengths of straight 2.5" pipe between the S bend (mandrel) and the collector and this is the best fit I could get.

I'm willing to keep trying but have run out of option. I still don't understand how this can be a bolt on Exhaust.

The headers are Black Jack Alumacoat. Mind you there 25 years old but that shouldn't make a difference.

Frank, I saw the last pic, that tells 1000 words, its not aligned, i encountered the same problem, when i install Stainless Works headers with custom made Hi flo cats with Corsa X-pipe, Cats and X-pipe was no aligning, so i took at the muffler shop and they bend it with a pro-bender machine, and than i did some little cutting here n there and after few hrs, whew got that SOB fit right, while i was there went out and bought 3" wide band clamps from Zorro Muffler, Mississauga, that gave me a leak free exhaust.

Remember for C4 n C3's : when they say it fit perfect, but most of times it dont.
Now when it comes to C5 n C6 yes they fit right thru it.

Let me know if u want some wrenching help.

Did i told u iam Only 5'4" and weigh only 140 lbs and can turn 360 degree and can go underneath the car a zillion times, and when u need small hands at those tight space than let me know.
