FFIN90 The Deer Slayer
I will officially start the thread for pics of the "INCIDENT" Saturday night on the way back to the hotel after the race.
A deer decided to have a go with my car on the road. Luckily I was able to swerve to avoid hitting it straight on and having it end up in my lap. That's the thought that went through my head in that millisecond before the impact, all I saw was this head appear over my right front fender before the thud and sound of shattering plastic/fibreglass.
I only have a few pics for obvious reasons ( was a little shaky right after ), but a few of the gang took some that they can add to this thread.
I'd just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the gang for hanging around after it happened, and an even BIGGER one to those who became my pit crew and got the car in shape to drive it home. Unfortunately it won't be able to make it to Mosport on Wednesday , (hopefully be in a body shop by then ).
We have a Patent Pending ( thank's Frank ) on the new NASCAR Conversion Kit for the C5.
This is the crew after I was Black flagged into the pits for another quick repair. Note the smartass' with the antlers.
OK guys, post away. I know some of you have some great pics of the new NASCAR Vette.

I wish that was all. Unfortunately Greg it's the fender, front nose and probably the hood not to mention a headlight assembly and other odds and ends underneath that will have to be replaced.

So glad you are alright. See what happens when you don't have Nick and I along to arrest those animals. I know the car is your baby, but it can be fixed as long as you were only shaken up.
Nick and I had a wonderful time at the race at Limerock and were only inches from continuing on back to Mid-Ohio to volunteer at the Corral.
Thanx Les, I'll have to wait until tomorrow when I contact the insurance company and see where I can take it.
Sorry to hear about your car Ray!
Keep in mind, the insurance company cannot legally tell you where you have to get your car repaired, you can choose the shop yourself. So don't let them bully you into taking it to some shop that has no experience working on Vettes, make sure you take it somewhere that knows these cars very well!
We were driving near the back of the pack, and all of a sudden everyone stopped in a hurry, we didn't know what was going on! So I jump out of the car and start walking up to the front when I see this deer laying still with it's head in the pipe and I think "WTF is that deer doing there?!?!" Then Mark told me that Ray had hit it, and I couldn't believe it!!!!!
Anyways, glad we got her patched up enough to be road worthy to get her home buddy!

Looking forward to seeing all of you at Mosport.
Good luck with getting the car repaired swiftly.
Janet

Thanks for all your help Bruce . I just love those rolling shots of the car, doesn't look too bad on the road like that . I think I might keep it that way , just imagine certain types seeing it that way, I can hear them now " what type of redneck hillbilly drives a corvette around like that? he shouldn't be allowed to own one"
