What a fkn waste of money. They should use that money to better equip the officers not retro-fit a crop duster.

Just the opposite they are spending 1 million for the program but I bet they will make more then 10 million a year in speeding ticket.
They had a convoy of cruisers on the 400 the other day pulling them in, can you say $$ "Cash Grab" $$.
I guess McGuinty and Miller have to make up for the lack of province and city funds this year.

it seems the law enforcement is so concentrated on giving out tickets instead of putting there efforts into real crime like drug dealers, thiefs, rapest's, murders ect.

I'm not sure about that. To show you the video, of course it looks great to everyone involved. In real day activity when officers are out on other calls, how long does the plane trail you before an officer actually gets to the highway for that call. He could be already writing another ticket off the highway, it'll balance out or perhaps even make a few more bucks, but not 10x that much. There's no need for an airplane.

There's no monetary gain, no point going after those ones only. You need to pay the bills at the end of the month.

You know whats weird about that... is that the technology used to issue this ticket is determined by a human 1000 feet up pressing a button not directly overtop a visual marker on a road... whats the speed difference work out to be if he's just a little premature on the stop or early on the start, how do you test or challenge someones stopwatch ability in court? Is it only good on sunny days ...during the day?? another fun day for lawyers

That actually happened a few years back in Minnesota. Remember that bike they said was doing 205mph. It went to court and was quashed. (The bike experts cited the bike couldn't go more then 165mph)

Bingo.

Also, what if you start the watch near the back of the car but stop it when the front bumper reaches the next mark? That would mean your travelling "faster" than you actually are by the stopwatch math. At that rate of speed, each tenth is worth a little over 1 kph more/less. If you're out 3-4 tenths then you're out almost 5 kph on your "estimated" speed.

Think one tenth which is only 1kph is a not a big deal? How about if it's the difference between 49 over and 50 over!!!

With current video recording technology ... a computer could know the altitude and speed of the airplane ... track several vehicles on the ground at the same time, and estimate the speed of these vehicles ... it would be alot more expensive than the stop watch ... but it would elminate all the problems that have already been pointed out by this method.

One day they will get it figured out.

nah you'd survive, ride the blast wave with the Vette! You did say you were sporting the stealth bomber look, those things are slow and can still survive
