Got my Motown block and rotating assembly, pics !
Finally got a day off so I could pick up the parts for my 427ci small block. The AFR 227 heads aren't ready yet but I can assemble the bottom end anyway. Pretty excited this is my dream motor something I have wanted to build for some time and here it is.
The Motown block is little dirty as it was just final honed and it hasn't been cleaned yet. THe block is really something to look at, all five mains have billet steel four bolt caps and the inner three are splayed at an angle for more clamping force.
I really like this block, it should do the job. Center 3 caps are splayed Closeup of billet splayed cap
Eagle 4 in stroke 4340 crank Here you can see it is stamped for 350 mains, apparently there is an advantage in using 350 mains in a 400 block
Here's a couple of the Mahle pistons, notice how short the skirt is to clear the big stroke crank...hopefully
Now the piston and rods together. In the second pic you can see how high into the piston the pin is

Now the cam, it is a small base circle solid roller cam and when you order a custom cam like this you get a billetcore, not that crap that looks like concrete. They only charge about another 40 bucks for this. This is a sweet cam, over 250degs duration @ .050 and about .640" lift They pressed on an iron gear for me so I can run any distributor
And the Stroker rods, notice how one side has been clearanced. These rods come with ARP 2000 bolts
And the solid roller lifers which now have priority oiling to the needle bearings
Looks awesome Wayne! Nothing like a big-inch small block to get the heart pumping! Can't wait to see it and hear it in person, be sure to post more pics as the build continues.
Now, where are those hi-po floor mats we talked about tonight?!?!
