You will likely never see a Police officer or anyone in the Crown ever charged.
Ever wonder why you never hear Police officers being charged with DD?
Trust me, they drink & drove more than anyone.
Police show a limitless amount of leniency whenever they find out a driver they pulled over is a fellow LEO or from the Justice Dept, and to a lesser extent Doctors, Firefighters and Paramedics.
Fantino's a joke. Basically a clown in an OPP uniform.
Bill 203 is the dumbest thing to date. Guilty before proven innocent. I've heard so many of those cases have already been dismissed because the vehicles were impounded by poor judgement. Also heard that 1 cop has complaints filed against him for abuse of power.
Peel cops in Brampton are also sitting at a highway ramp where the speed limit changes from 100 to 60. They sit there with a line up of tow trucks just waiting to impound cars.
Yes, I feel much safer on the roads now. *sarcasm* I don't really have a problem with the 50 over part, it's the "stunting" thing that annoys me.
40 year old woman in a Kia accidentally squeals her tires and the cops won't give a crap. One of us squeal our tires in our muscle cars and we're street racers watching our cars get loaded onto a tow truck.
And the latest news:
"You lose control of your vehicle, when other responsible drivers in the same conditions do not, should be all the evidence needed to create a reverse onus offence where the driver has to prove they were not responsible," Fantino said.

....and we actually pay this man with our tax dollars
Oh wait ...it's subsidized through STREET RACERS now
I got something to add about cops abusing their powers. One night I was driving home in my S2000 from tilsonburg area in a 80 zone and I was speeding about 90ish.
I looked at my side view mirror and two cars behind me were pacing me up fairly fast so I slowed down to 80 and noticed the lights on top of their car. The 80 zone then becomes a 60 zone and they were almost tailgating me. After the 60 zone becomes a 80 zone they both signal and passes me in the on coming traffic lane like a bullet without and lights on.
I picked up alittle speed once they passed me and I was doing about 95and they were speeding so fast that their tail lights looks like little dots.
I guess the OPP were in a hurry to the nearest Tim Hortons
In the late 70’s my dad just bought himself a new work van. Two weeks later he was driving through an intersection when a guy ran a red and smashed the car beside my dad into my dad. The guy left the scene and shortly after a lawyer on his behave was there. When my dad went to court he recognized the judge as the guy who ran the red. After lunch there was a different judge to deal with the case. Result: Lights must have malfunctioned and indicated green in both directions, case dismissed.

Geez...imagine that....the lights malfunctioned...who would've thought that could happen?
I too have a story to tell of a OPP POPO on a power trip. Some years ago when I was a younger dude cruising hwy 7 in Woodbridge in my nicely done up 5.0 supercharged Stang, I was definitely at the wrong place at the wrong time. My friend and I were minding our own business and travelling at speeds equivalent to flowing traffic and not doing anything illegal. I left a red light and as a force of habit I looked in my rearview and notice a car weaving in and out of traffic. This vehicle was I believe 150 or so meters away from me and closing in fast. I had a feeling it was a cop so I kept my eye on him and low and behold he pulls up right behind me and blares his siren and I pull over. The guy looked upset but I still greeted him with respect and asked why I was being pulled over. He claimed I was doing 100 in a 60 zone. I knew he was full of it and defended myself but he would not have any of it. He made me pop my hood and he examined the headers and then went under the car to look for the cats (my set up was street legal) and at this point I could see he was even more upset that he could not nail me and have my car towed away. Takes my licence and comes back with a huge mofo ticket and hands it to me and takes off. This was the worst treatment I had ever had from a cop. I decided to fight it in court but when I saw that the judge would not take anyone else's side except for the cop, I knew I was royally fncked so I had to plead guilty to a lesser charge. I am not saying that all POPOs are the same as I have definitely met some very respectable ones but to abuse one's powers like this is not a nice thing to do.
An 18-year-old driving his parents’ new car on the highway near Windsor today tried to race an unmarked police car this morning, reaching 160 km/h before he was arrested.
Sgt. Cam Woolley of the OPP said the detachment commander with Chatham-Kent OPP was driving toward Windsor in an unmarked Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows when a young man pulled up alongside him in a Chrysler 300. The driver tried repeatedly to get the uniformed officer to race, not allowing him to pass and travelling at higher and higher speeds.
When the Chrysler’s speed reached 160 km/h, the officer stopped the young motorist out of concern for safety.
“The officer didn’t want to go higher,” Woolley said. “He felt the young man would have kept increasing in speed.”
The young man is a beginner driver at the second stage of the graduated licensing program, with a G2 class license.
Woolley said, “He was playing tough guy until he got stopped. Then he cried until his parents got there.”
The young man’s licence has been suspended and the car impounded for a week. The minimum penalty for street racing is a $2,000 fine.
The officer’s unmarked Chevrolet Impala does not look like a police car and is used to hunt for aggressive drivers.
The incident occurred just days after an 85-year-old Thornhill man was charged under street racing legislation which came into effect on Sept. 30. Police say the elderly motorist was driving at 161 km/h. He is the oldest person charged under the new legislation.
So... Who wants to bet that the officer played a large part in provoking the teen?
In fact, it even says he toyed with him up until 160km/h.
While the kid was dumb for not recognizing an Impala as a probable cop car, I'm willing to bet that the facts were skewed in the article and that the cop did have a hand in provoking the kid in the 300.

What a load of crap. Why would the cop let it go that high? The cop obviosly knew what the kid was doing. Should have stopped him at 130. Instead, the cop wanted the car.

Should have shown he was a cop at the first indication the kid gave he wanted to race before it even started. Allowing it to become a "race" puts blame on the cop as well.
