Default An incredible corvette book that you must read!

ALL CORVETTES ARE RED, The Rebirth of an American Legend, by James Schefter

A book about GM and how the C5 was almost abandoned and the possible demise of the corvette.

This book has been talked about on the forum and a buddy of mine “Don, electric_yogurt” came by today and told me about this corvette book that was simply incredible. Well after about 5 minutes of his explanation I thought I would give it a try.

I found a hard copy of the book at a used book store for $20. After getting home, eating dinner and taking apart the new Wii because the 8 year old stuck in a DS game in the CD slot because the slot beside it said SD with an arrow pointing in, anyway a mistake that didn’t ruin the Wii.

I opened the book and read the prologue that said “All corvettes are red. The rest are mistakes” Obviously said by John Heinricy before the invent of Atomic Orange. Well, even better is the preface and the first sentence of the first chapter reads “General Motors was dying” that sets the tone very well

Now by chapter 5, I have to tell all of you that if you haven’t read this book you have too.

I is written brilliantly, and is captivating.

GET THE BOOK!

I got the book almost 2 years ago and it went into the box when I moved. I just unpacked about 20 Corvette Books Last Saturday and got them on the shelf. I will start this Weekend as I fly to Cuba

I will try to pick that up.

The most incredible book I've read so far is "The Driver" by Alex Roy.

I started it New Years Day and I've only got a few chapters left now.

The first half is really interesting because a lot of it has to do with the inner workings of GM. Or should I say, not-workings.

The second half (now that the car's been approved) talks about the technical side of what they where trying to do. Wow.

It's quite enthralling and makes me love my C5 (and the C6) even more.
