Default Best battery charger for winter storage

I am looking at the CTEK charger for winter storage, if you're not familiar with it here is a link to Dream Car Garage about it...click here. Or the CTEK website here.

It is said to be the "Worlds Smartest Battery Charger". Anyone interested in a group buy? Send me an e-mail or PM and let's make this happen.

Any Idea what the cost is without a GP? seems like a good product.

I've got a battery maintainer from Canadian Tire that has been used for 5 years and no problems. But this one really looks good.

....I have a Black & Decker I bought at Wallyworld for about $28 but indications are the CTEK will do a better job. A buddy of mine has a electric trolling motor on his boat and was using a regular charger, his neighbor suggested he try his CTEK and my buddy claims he got over an hour and a half longer use out of the battery under the same conditions, 6 hours compared to 4-1/2.

Greg
There is no doubt the Battery Tendar is a decent product and it has been around for a long time, but Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini have all chosen the CTEK to be branded as their own OEM brand and now every Ferrari & Lambo sold comes with a CTEK charger with the car.

There is a rumor another major car icon is about to come aboard as well !

A trickle "charger" is charging all the time and can over heat/ over charge your battery.

A battery "tender" maintains a charge in your battery and "TURNS OFF" when the battery is charged so it won't over charge. When the battery is low because of drainage due to electronics etc. it turns back on again.

As I understand it.

Interesting, didn't think about that..Thanks Gary.

Depending on how long my car "naps" this winter, may need to rethink the storage process....

Hey Lauri The Canadian Tire chargers are only one amp and charge all the time. The Battery Tender Jr's are Two amp and have a smart chip which only charges when the battery drops below a certain level.
I have been running these on the Bikes for over ten years.
The Battery I have in My HD Electra Glide is 6 years old and I run numerous accessories, heated clothing, lots of Led lights, Amp.
These can extend your battery by years. I think they are about $50.00
