I did a search to find out the best possible pricing for this product and even though there are vendors on this forum that sell it they won't easily disclose there best possible price. List is about $3.49 sq. ft. and this vendor sells it for about $2.75 sq.ft. I've heard that the Costco and maybe even Sam's garage flooring comes from the same factory although colour selection is not as great but pricing is much lower. Does anyone know what the lowest price is for Race Deck and has anyone heard or had personal experience with the Costco & or Sam's brand?
I would have to have it at $2.00 or less shipped, for me to even consider it.
I'm not cheap........just frugal! So watch it buddy!
Hey Frank, I remember reading a few post in the general sections saying there is a difference between RD flooring and Costco's. Might have to search it, something about the way it breathes??? Anyway, I looked into that before I did my floor and 2.75 is actually a pretty good price, I dont think i saw it cheaper then that anywhere, it was close to the 5.00 mark.
I did a search and the threads I read state that it comes from the same factory and the consensus were that it's the same product. If you've read differently then it's 50-50 split decision. That's why I was hoping for Canadian members personal results.
As for $2.75.......not good enough for me to open my deeply guarded wallet.

I'm not sure if you've checked with them but there's this place in woodbridge on Chrislea dr. that I always see.
The site is www.garageliving.ca. I've never bought anything from them so I don't know what the prices would be in comparison to others.
Thanks for the link z06cab, there are many many tiles out there, same as what's being offered by www.garageliving.ca. But unless there has been great personal reviews. I think I'm going to stick with the 3 products that I've posted. My first preference would be Race Deck.
Frank, have you talked to Mo? He was checking out a company based in Burlington or Hamilton that does this type of flooring. They had their display at Performance World.
I can't remember the company name only that the sales guy was really hot....

I remember that thread and also noticed Mo posting to a few Race Deck threads while doing my search. To the best of my knowledge, the thread you're referring to didn't have a favourable outcome.
As for the term "Frugal" that has stuck with me for many many years although same have used a different word.
Here is a comparison of MotoFloor vs Racedeck from the CEO of Racedeck.
"MotoFloor is made from the highest grade materials using no foam fillers or cheap additives to save money or cure cosmetic imperctions- Why this is important; When you ad what is fillers ( what the industry coins as junk) you lose structural integrity, may easily stain, will become warped over time and so on. Many companies do this to save money on the product ( espeically now with resins and petroleum product costs at an all time high)
The understructure support system is thinner walled but much closer from wall to wall. This design offers more than enough support for residential garage use-
The locking system becomes part of the support system, unlike others whose locks just hang on the outer wall and easily give way. ( Don't be fooled by claims made about having more locks per tile, anybody can slap a cunch of locks, but the reason anyone uses more than 4 is to try and keep the tile flat and/or from unsnapping due to an inferior design)
Customer service - Costco customer service is legendary.
MotoFloor is available is three great colors and a unique patented double diamond design.
RaceDeckis made from the highest grade materials using no foam fillers or cheap additives to save money or cure cosmetic imperfections-
The structure - the toughest and beefiest we offer and in the industry. The are engineered for extreme garage enviroments both in commercial and residential enviroments
The locking system - The locking system becomes part of the support system, unlike others whose locks just hang on the outer wall and easily give way
Colors - 14 standard colors and custom colors available
design - there are over 7 styles of tile to choose from and two sizes ( 12"x12" and 18x18") that can be snapped together for even more design options
Customer Sercive- THis is a high priority for us and our entire dealer network. Installation is avaibale from all dealers as well.
So which is better? That depends on what your needs are and what features are more important to you."

I talked to one of the forum vendors a couple of months ago about Racedeck. Can't remember exactly what he quoted me but it was about $2.75. He told me the big problem was the unreal shipping cost to Canada that would make it cost prohibitive here. I live in BC so maybe that makes a diff.? Anyone know how much the Costco stuff is? Didn't know they sold it.

I have read in other threads that tires are a budget concern. Allowing deadlines to continually slip no matter how sanctioned doesn't get the goal accomplished. Stay focused, find the keys, and get that car started. Tires first get that beast rolling.

From what I've read it would appear that the quality is similar but the selection is very minimal.

I would just have it shippped to the US and go for a Sunday drive. I believe the Costco pricing in the US is about $2.50 at the regular price I'm not sure what the price is when it goes on sale.

I don't think they will budge on the $2.75 sq. ft. even after this vendor sold 30 packages.

That's correct, I have a budget for the car and another for the garage. Since the car budget has gone over by 700%, I've decided that another 200% was going to be enough for 2008. The price to do the garage floor is 1/4 the cost of the tire and rim package.
EDIT: To be honest, it's not really the money that's keeping this car parked in the garage it's more the motivation. Presently I have thousands in Vette parts still in there nice little packages, I just need my ass kicked over and over again to get me to work on this car. It's a long story!

Frank, I did a lot of research on flooring products before spending the money but decided to go with Race Deck. Their product is excellent, easy to install (4.5 hours start to finish), looks and feels great. It is expensive. Race Deck is made in Utah and they have a representative in St. Catherines, ON.
If you want to see my floor PM me and I'll take some pics and I'll give you Paula's cell number for the flooring.
Red Kelly, thanks for the offer and I may take you up on it, BUT before that happens I want to be sure whether I can get it for the price I want. At this point in time it doesn't appear as though that will happen. I'm still looking at other alternatives such as Costco & Sams products since I believe they may be comparable if not the same as Race Deck, just not as many colour choices, which I can deal with.
I checked out the Motofloor at Costco online and it works out to $3.02 per sq/ft. It does include delivery but that still ain't cheap! I looked for it at the local store and they told me it was only available online so it has to be delivered. Can't save a buck by picking it up yourself.

Have you thought about properly sealing and staining the floor? Once the sealant is on, you can paint/stain it any colour and pattern you want. Probably be cheaper than the flooring tiles. And if you get tired of it, you can always repaint.
Thanks for the post Zeeman28a. It's difficult to find a really good epoxy paint that can compare to the Race Deck Flooring even though there are around 10 times more brands to choose from. In the research that I've come across and the actual application of epoxy paints on concrete I've done, I've found that the quality vary immensely. The best type of epoxy paints I've used were the 2 part epoxy. The price when considering more then one colour is still cheaper but the labour in some cases more than 5 times the amount and even more labour intensive. I’ve heard a lot of bad epoxy paint jobs gone badly in the long run, so I'm hesitant in choosing that option. If I can't find the price that I'm looking for the epoxy is my next step.
