Default c5 suspension selection?

In my search for a c5 convertible I'm wondering what suspension I should search for or avoid.
The car will be a cruiser and I don't drive hard.
Is the base suspension the best way to go?
Is there a big difference in the ride quality between the stock suspension and the Z51?
How about the selective damping - I'm leaning towards trying to pick up a 2002 model, is there any benefit to selective damping or should it be avoided? I'm concerned that this may be expensive to repair/maintain?
So far I've got a lot of good input on other questions I've posted on the forum, thanks for being so helpful to a new member!

Dave

For you the Base suspension would be best.

I agree, I have the regular suspension and I drive the crap out of it...It works fine, although the tires wear pretty fast!!!

Hmmmm, mental note. When it's time, buyer beware.

It's all personal preference. My C5 had Mag ride which was very cool. My C6 has Z51. I would rank the Z51 first (partially because of the other doo-dads that come with it), Mag ride 2nd, you kinda get the best of both worlds, and base last.

I find the base suspension cars feel loose in the rear end. The switch to Z51 for me makes a much larger difference in the rear than the front and the car feels much more planted and agressive on turn in. Having said that, bump steer is more pronounced on Z51.

I am going to be driving this into the ground, or maybe a curb sideways....

maybe the dollar will be so weak that Americans will be importing Canadian Vettes and they can get "a deal" on mine

DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!!

Heres my opinion becuase its what I have and what Ive done.

Base Suspension is fine as is.. . but also easy and fairly cheap to improve the ride by adding new shocks and sways.. thats all you would need.
