In my search for a c5 convertible I'm wondering what suspension I should search for or avoid.
The car will be a cruiser and I don't drive hard.
Is the base suspension the best way to go?
Is there a big difference in the ride quality between the stock suspension and the Z51?
How about the selective damping - I'm leaning towards trying to pick up a 2002 model, is there any benefit to selective damping or should it be avoided? I'm concerned that this may be expensive to repair/maintain?
So far I've got a lot of good input on other questions I've posted on the forum, thanks for being so helpful to a new member!
It's all personal preference. My C5 had Mag ride which was very cool. My C6 has Z51. I would rank the Z51 first (partially because of the other doo-dads that come with it), Mag ride 2nd, you kinda get the best of both worlds, and base last.
I find the base suspension cars feel loose in the rear end. The switch to Z51 for me makes a much larger difference in the rear than the front and the car feels much more planted and agressive on turn in. Having said that, bump steer is more pronounced on Z51.
