I just got my car a few weeks ago and interested in joining a Corvette Club in the Western GTA, ideally Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville area. I've done some searching but a lot of the website links I've found don't work anymore.
If you live in the area, what are the clubs to join?
Seriously, we are a non-official, or UN-club. No fees, no NECESSARY meetings, no attitude, but all fun, good people and we meet and cruise at LEAST once a week. We do go out near your area too.
Congrats on the vette, and don't forget to wave!

That's what is so cool about this "club", no attitudes! I've noticed at a lot of Corvette shows, that the old school guys that belong to the bigger Corvette clubs will all just sit on their lawn chairs in a little circle, near their cars and they won't talk to anyone except for the people in their club. And god forbid you should ask them to sit in their car or take a closer look at it, because the car will have a velvet rope around it and snipers hiding in the shadows ready to take you out if you go near it!
Our "un-club club" is a group of fun loving people who aren't afraid to drive our cars! Some of us nut jobs even drive them in the winter!
Sorry, my idea of a Corvette club is NOT going to meetings in some hotel boardroom every Tuesday night, and paying $300 a year for nothing other than a sticker.

I did join CCO last year thinking that I wanted to get involved. The reality is that I haven't been to a single meeting yet. I have attended a couple of events and saw a number of our 'UN-CLUB' members at these events...it's ok folks, you can come out of the closet (so to speak).
Anyway...will I renew my membership, well based on the club itself, No. Based on the events, yes (only because I am fairly new and what to learn and experience my car).
As far as the people thing goes re clubs...my only experience is with CCO. I found most all people very friendly, but I am rookie and no threat to 'old guard'.
I say, do what makes to happy. If you find some fun in club, then go for it, if like the less formal meetings, that's great too. Hows that for fence sitting ??
Clubs? Been there done that... Found this to be the place to hang.
If you want advice on your car, you have available info and a network of willing members like you've never seen before (i.e the C3, C4, C5, C6 Gen and Tech forums) and in the CDN section you have GREAT people that will pull together to help you... cant beat that!!
Oh and some of the officially organized clubs (which means you pay) either join our events or invite us to theirs, at the very least I have seen some of the members of those clubs be very active here.. Hats off to you guys..no "snobism" there

Steve, pm me the link to this place you're talking about.
OK let's ease up on the 'club' bashing. First of all, many forum members are members of other clubs, secondly if it wasn't for the clubs, who would put on the shows that you attend? If you haven't attended a club meeting or event, you really have no idea what goes on and to categorize Vette owners in clubs as stuffy and snobby is a misconception. You must be thinking of some of those European or Britsh car clubs.
I will tell you that the clubs also contribute financially to charities, provide the members with discounts at sponsors venues, and don't cost $300 a year!
They meet once a month maybe but it's only to highlight the cruises, shows or events going on.
I have to say I've attended many car shows in the last two summers and have yet to run across a fellow Vette owner who didn't want to talk about their car...and that was when I was an 'un clubber'.
Ok..I'm done...it's the heat....gotta take the Vette for a spin now....it's all good!
