Default Interesting Nav-mod

This does not appear for the "faint-of-heart" but I really dug it. Thanks Jetz (when did you say your car will be ready?)

This looks really easy just pick yourself up a spare selective ride plastic and drill it out or your use factory one. Looks like 1-2 hrs worth of work.

Are the maps for the nav loaded by disc? In my Magnum, I had the same problem, but a bunch of guys figured out how to hack the software so that the in motion limitaions are defeated.

If this is the only way to do it in the vette it is definetly worth the work!

Well I just finished the MOD, on an 05 with Selective Ride. If you plan on doing the mod on an 05 / Canadian car there are a few changes that need to be done.

1st. IF you want the switch located as per the write up, you will need to order part # 15237510 from GM it is the Selective Ride bezel without the passenger side airbag light. I don't know if it is only on the 05's or just Canadian cars, but you cannot use the stock one.

2nd On an 05, the console trim comes out a little different, you have to remove the passenger side trim panel 1st, or you will break it. There are two screws, under the handbrake cover that has to be lifted to gain access.

The good news is you do not need to remove the shift nob as the console trim goes right over top.

Oh, almost forgot the most important part. The mod works great! I didn't go far but was driving down the road, flipped the switch and entered a destination then flipped the switch back.

Great mod. Took me about 4 hours, mainly do to being overly cautious. It is my baby after all.

The toughest part is getting the connectors of be careful here, you should not have to force them, they all have releases.

Sorry, guy's I didn't take pictures along the way. Figured with the great original write up there wouldn't be anything to add.

Too bad. My huge fear is in how to remove the fascia around the radio. Is it easy? Does it involve the whole center console coming off?

I do have a picture of the fascia removed! As it turns out my wife came out and snapped a couple of pictures.
This is the console / fascia removed, Yep it's gotta come right out. It's not that difficult.

Here is the inside of the car, you can't see to much other than the missing facia

As far as being easy, I would say that it is fairly easy, more intimidating than difficult. Take you time! By the way, you can pick up the switch at the Source 3.99, they have the exact one from the original write up. It looks really good.

You mean the light for the passenger side air bag, right?
