Default Cags?

Have you kept it? (Computer Assist Gear Select)

It throws me off! What does it take to remove it?

I live inthe GTA. 06 Coupe. Saturday I'll have had it a week!

DaveL

There are two ways to get rid of the 1-4 bypass.

Option 1 - get an edit to your ECM program to eliminate it via software

Option 2 - The more popular option (and cheaper) is to purchase a device called either a CAGS By-Pass or Skip Shift Eliminator, sold by various vendors they are about $25 and very easy to install. With this solution you will still have the light come on in the dash but you can go thru all the gears. The only way to get rid of the light is to pull be bulb or remove it via an edit to the ECM. Most people just ignore the light.

I included a link below as an example of what you are looking for but as I mentioned almost ever vette vendor carries this as it is probably one of the most popular mods. It was the first thing I did.

BrainsC6 sums it up.

The previous owner on my C5 had it bypassed so I can shift 1-2 even with the "1 to 4 shift" light goes on. Ironically, I've tried the 1-4 a few times and when you're stuck behind a mob of slow movers on city streets it's just fine. It's goes along without any problem but hardly an exhaust note if that's important. Of course, a leadfoot solves the whole problem too.

Takes longer to get the car up enough to get the body in to unplug the solenoid and attach the plastic moulded resistor and dead end cover.
This is on the rear diff drivers side and can send the print if you require it.

Hi Dave,

Welcome to forum and the C6. I have a mine installed for over (2) years, it was the first mod I did (if you can call it a mod). After two years, I find that it allows me the choice of running through the gears or in some case I just go 1st to 4th anyway, ie residential roads.

You should come out the GTG this Saturaday.

Planning to...GTG

I was really impressed with the first one we attended. Found it from the Rennlist forum.

I have a lot to learn about the car. It's a lot of fun! This is our second V. Our first was a 40th Anniversary Edition.

Regards,
DaveL
