If anyone is looking for a C6 Z06, there is a LMB 2006 Z06 for sale at a dealer in Etobicoke for only $69,988! I already thought it was a killer deal when they had it initially priced at $73,000, but this is a smokin deal! One of you needs to snap it up! (smook?)
Indeed! The best time to buy will be coming up in a few weeks when dealers start to panic. None of them want to be stuck with used Vettes in the wintertime!
Also, that 05 that showed up last Thursday for under $40,000 is still in there at that price. I thought it was another mistake, but it's been there for 6 days now without any price correction:
wow that's a good price too for the coupe - man is it me or are the C6's depreciating faster than the C5's did?
I believe that they are. I remember tracking the prices of C5s and did not see the first C5 go below $40,000 until the beginning of 2004, more than 7 years after their introduction (plus their price was lower than the C6 to begin with!) But here we are now only 3 years since the C6 came out and already one has gone under $40k and a lot of them are hovering in the $45k to $50k range. I even saw an 06 vert for under $50k in the Trader this week!
So while it is bad news for those who worry about this sort of thing, it's good news for people like me who want to pick up a used one for a song someday. And if you own a C6 and plan on driving it forever, it shouldn't really bother you if they depreciate fast since you're not going to ever sell it right?
It won't bother me one bit if my C5 is not worth much by the time I get a C6, in fact that'll be better because then it'll be easier to convince my wife that we should just keep the C5 and she can use it as her summer play toy. By the time I'm ready to buy a C6, my C5 will have probably 300,000 km on it so it'll be worthless as a trade in, so why would I get rid of it when they'd probably only give me $10k for it by then? It's probably only worth $15-17k as a trade in right now with 133k on it I bet.
I kind of wonder about the Z06. While it is an amazing sports car, I still love the versatility of my C-6, soon to be modded further
I think the Z06 is nice, but the fact that it doesn't come in auto means the only way I'd get one is if I had a bucketload of money and could afford both an auto C6 coupe for daily driving and a Z06 to play with on weekends. I never want to go back to driving a stick everyday again, not with Toronto's rush hour traffic. And honestly, I have more fun with automatics anyhow, I love mashing the pedal down and having the trans downshift two gears, and feeling that rush of power.
It's the perfect colour to go with my plates...I wonder if the wife will buy that one !!!
I am starting to agree with you about the auto. I do sometime get annoyed with my 6 speed as I still have problems with it going into first gear. Now, if some one out there has an LMB C6 Auto that wants to trade for LMB C6 Z51 6 speed, only 14k...give me a call
Agreed, I like buying them used after 3-4 yrs after new. I've been holding out to see what GM does with the HP of the c6z06 is it going to get a small bump like the 02+ did or stick at 505 until the c7z rolls out?
I'm more than happy with my 03c5z for the time being but a c6z is my future 3-4 yrs from now
Agreed, I like buying them used after 3-4 yrs after new.
You can definitely save a bundle buying good used ones! I picked up my 98 in August 04, with only 52,000 km on it but for only $33,000 (a great deal at the time) When it was brand new I figure my 98 would've been closer to $60,000 with the options it's got. So I got it for almost half the price of new, but it was still 95% as good as new.
Lauri is the corvette magazine corvette quarterly or is there another one?
Thanks
Mark
Magazine titles are:
Corvette Magazine
Corvette Quarterly
Corvette Fever
Corvette Enthusiast
Vette
And there is a 5th publication not directly associated with the Corvette called "GM High-Tech". They get into the engine, tranny, suspension, electrical, etc of all GM high performance automobiles. Very good magazine if you like the mechanical side of it.
You also may have a hard time finding all of them. Best place to check is those "Great Canadian News Company" stores and "Chapters". These are the stores that sell mostly magazines. You'll find them mostly in malls. The 2 largest that I know of are at "Yonge and St. Clair" and "Yonge and Front St".
