Default Intake information

Does anyone know the intake manufacturer which has two intakes? I have heard of this product whereby the "scoops" are on either side behind the front grill. This permits you to have your front plate on without interfering airflow. I am not sure if it is the Blackwing but I am certain that it is not Vararam. Thank you everyone,

Pierre,
There are a couple of systems out there with the dual cone, but from the research I've seen on the forum, if you're not going with the Vararam then look into the Calloway Honker or the Hurricane. For the C6 these are the best performers and your Top Flight front plate won't affect the air intake as neither have the snorkle like the Vararam. Breathless performance does the Hurricane installs at Carlisle. Then you can go next door to Chuck Cow and have him do the tune.

Are they using twin cone air filters or do they actually have twin scoops like the C5 Vararam? Any system which simply uses an open air filter sitting in the engine bay is not going to be anywhere near as effective as a proper cold air system which scoops up the air from outside the engine bay. That's why the Vararam systems work so well, they take their air from outside the engine bay where it is considerably cooler.

Pierre, I share your pain, as far as I have seen, there are no "ram air" (snorkle type) intakes that split to 2 sides for the C6, just the Vararam. And of course because Ontario requires the front plate, it totally will block the intake scoop.

As for the ones that just sit there withOUT the scoop, I'm not convinced they actually do anything to allow the car to breath any better than stock, especially for their $400 price range!!!

Guess we'll find out in Carlisle if any exist!! I need one too.

They look just like a couple of simple cones for taking in the open air. Thats why the Hurricane or Honker are the better buys for the C6 because they are a true cold air intake.

I finally went with the Haltech Stinger with Venom Filter as I had read positive posts on this product. Picked it up for $320 installed at Carlisle.

My first impressions are quite good. I noticed while driving home from Hershey Pa. today that the car has far more "pull" even in 6th gear. Revving under 2000 and feathering the accelerator yielded an immediate response from the engine and increase in speed - even while going up a moderate hill!!

Compared to the original, the air bridge is at least 3x the size. It also brings me to my next point - time to do a tune to benefit better from these changes.
