Default Opinion and advice from my Canadian homies on whether to sell these rims...

Hi everyone,

I live in the Vaughan/Thornhill area and recently purchased Competition Grey rims (factory originals) for my VY C6 MY06 (late December). The original rims are the C6 silver painted. Here is my dilemma - to sell or to keep and have them painted (as a spare set). the originals appears quite strong while light and I wonder if anyone has had issues with "bent or dinged" rims on there C5's or C6's?

that being said, advise on where to get them painted and how much I should expect to pay would also be appreciated. I find the VY looks way better IMO with dark rims rather than chromies.

Thank you to all.

Pierre, since you asked, my vote would be to keep the OEM rims...can't go wrong with having a factory set lying around.

As far as getting them repaired/painted, there is a great place north of Toronto. I have their card at work....I will look it up and post the name tomorrow

PS: Nice Car!!

I had a set re-done by them three times a few years back.
First two times the clear coat had bubbles. The third time the clear coat was still wet when they put them in the boxes, and left an imprint of the cardboard in the finish!

Hey Pierre, in the same boat as you. I just got the basic painted rims, because I wanted aftermarket chromes. (the dealer wanted $2500 for factory chrome!!)

I dunno if I should do the chrome wheel exchange, or if I get new ones altogether, if I should sell or keep my originals. Either way will still be cheaper than factory chrome, which i've read is not the best finish anyways.

I will be watching this thread to see everyones opinion.

By the way, did you buy from WN? Are you going to the tech Session and Hillfest? The tech session was very good last year, just registered for this years this morning. WN knows their Corvettes!

Hey Corrado,

I picked up my Competition Greys for $650USD including shipping. Got them form a forum member who put HRE's and sent his car to Callaway. What a deal! they had less than 5 miles on them.

If you want to get your rims done, I would be happy to lend you mine (as long as you take good care of them of course). Let me know. I will be out-of-country during the WN tech session. Would have loved to meet you. My car may be getting a tint job and clear bras at the time.

You'll get more responses if you start your own thread instead of jacking another.

btw, on a yellow vette, black rims are a must, (I'm a bit partial to black rims!)

yes it's photochopped.

Sorry, I tried that and got zero response. It seems I am SOL with this topic. Thought a fellow Torontonian would lend a hand.

sometimes certain members aren't on to reply but if you keep bringing it back to the top, someone will get it going. Off the top of my head, I always hear Redline in scarborough and Autoworx around this forum. I'd suggest calling them both and discuss your needs, go from there.

Eric at RedLine has a good rep so I have heard. Autoworx on the otherhand.

Thanks Steve, much obliged. See you around town over the summer.
