What a scam. There is NO gas shortage. There are many refineries that are not even operating, they just keep them closed to help keep the common misconception alive that the earth only has a limited supply of oil that is running out.
Another misconception is that oil is all fossil fuel. Another wrong theory. Oil is actually a naturally occuring and SELF RENEWING resource. There is also a GINORMOUS oil source recently found 200 miles off the eastern coast of Canada which has TONS of oil.
These oil companies want the world to think oil is running scare, that one lil' fire and a rail strike can affect ALL these gas stations. So why is the stations that are NOT affected have the same high prices??
Collusion! They got us by the balls and they know it. (not YOU Lauri).
Sorry, I get really pissed about this. If you listen to "Coast to Coast" with George Noory on Mojo at nights, your eyes will open up.
By the way....35 more days.....

Brutal... Im going away on Sat and even though I dont believe theres really a shortage...all the "Out of Gas" signs all around my area forced me into a line up so I can make sure I have gas to get to the airport. I understand the game of high prices, they've been sticking that one to us for years....but cmon, a shortage??
I was on the road this morning at 6:15 to meet a client downtown Toronto because it was the only time he had.
So find out as I get in the car I am running low on gas so I stopped to get some.
Had to wait 4 cars deep at 6:15 in Milton and pay almost $60 for my tank that on a bad day doesn't even come close to that.
Couldn't believe it. Hopefully all this calms down before the driving season or we may not have that premium fuel that we all need. Seen a BMW drive away this morning cause of no premium.
Imperial Oil has no less than 3 out of 4 refineries down and Petro Canada is down for maintenance, they were being supplied by IMO until the Nanticoke fire.
In case you hadn't noticed refineries have been shutting down for the last 30 years without replacement.
If you ask the companies about refining capacity they will tell you that we are over supplied in Canada.
There have been several mergers to reduce supply and of coarse competition, Remember how many companies Petro Canada eat up and Imperial Oil took out Texaco, and what ever happened to Gulf Oil.
Maintenance at these plants is a joke, the guy that spends the least money on R&M gets the bonus.
You cant blame the tiger for biting you when you are the care taker. Communist Red Canada has made competition virtually impossible with environmental requirements, pumping billions of barrels of oil out of the ground is easier than trying to put one pint back. Every year the CRC asks for higher fuel standards, and the refiners mildly complain about shutting down the old plants and up grading the remaining and of coarse removing capacity. So with limited storage facilities and reduced capacity, the "THIS COULD NEVER HAPPEN IN A MILLION YEARS" happens to the utter amazement of the intelligentsia.
This shortage is a result of several independent minor misadventures among the refiners. Believe it or not the oil companies are managing an emergency supply scenario, hourly, and the lack of announcements was to avoid hoarding which could exacerbate the problem.
And the Good News, rush hour traffic was much better today.
I really believe that there is a gas shortage. I also believe that the refineries will ramp up production in the next couple of weeks to lower the prices for us to appologize for the inconvenience.
I saw a lot more stations in Mississauga with gas this morning compared to yesterday too.
FWIW, if any of you check out torontogasprices.com, I'm Patman22 on there. I post a ton of gas prices on that site (I post them immediately, wherever I go, from my Blackberry)

Gas shortage my ass. There have been many companies in the past 10 years who have developed technology for combustable fuel made from renewalable resources...corn, water, etc and when their technology gets some momentum under it, its get bought out by Shell, Esso, etc under the guise that they want to look for new alternatives...ya, right ...the technology gets shelved and they protect their beloved oil industry.
They truly operate in an Industry Monopoly..hell, they're worst than banks
