Wassup Doug, it's Alex here. Hope all is well with you, the shop, and the car!
I've bought both my Acura and my Z from the US and drove them up myself. I know it's not the most convenient way, but it is certainly the safest way to bring an imported car home, undamaged.
I've also had the displeasure of shipping my car from Ottawa to Calgary through Searail. If I could do it over again, I would have bough a car bra, taken the hit on tire wear and increased mileage, and would have driven it across the country myself.
My family shipped 3 cars with them, all of which had damage. SUspension/bearing damage on the Volvo and Acura, and a cracked weatherstrip on the Vette. After haggling for hours and hours, they would simply refuse to admit responsibility for the damage and we were stuck with the repair bills.
Just something to keep in mind regarding shipping companies. You are "insured" however if you look at the exclusions, its almost like not having insurance at all.
Good luck with whichever undertaking you're up to now!
Cheers,
Alex.
