I was 8 years old the first time I rode in a Vette, we were visiting one of my uncles in London, and he had a brand new Vette in the garage beside a slightly less-brand new Jag.
Well I guess I stood there long enough staring at the Vette and ignoring the Jag, that he finally offered to take me out for a ride...
I was hooked, and dreamed of one day owning my own. To pass the years, I built models, and raced Hot Wheels, and AFX slot cars...
30 years later, I placed my order for a brand new C6 around the end of Feburary, so it would be here by May... It was built April 27th, 2005, and the following three weeks seemed like the longest three weeks of my life waiting for the delivery... I felt like a kid waiting for Christmas... only the date seemed to keep moving!
Finally the big day arrives, and my dealer calls to tell me "The Eagle Has Landed Mark, Can you be here by 2:30P to pick it up?" (Is the Pope Catholic???)
I felt like I was going out on a first date, my palms were sweaty, couldn't string more than a couple of words together... you know the drill....

Finally, all the paper work is done, everyone in the dealership (and I mean every salesperson, technician, clerical, and Customers) were all outside looking at the car, and giving me some sort of advice ... about half an hour later, I finally tell them I have to leave!

So Press the Ignition Button, and the V8 comes to life (Oh Boy!), I put her in gear an eased off the clutch, put the turn signal on, and ease out in to traffic, and then onto the 407.... I think just about every car that started to pass me (I was just trying to get use to the car, and keep it at or around 100 kph!) would slow down, look the car over, then give me a big smile, tumbs up, ect. I had the top down of course, but forgot the sunburn lotion, so I looked like a lobster by the time my first drive was over!
I made it back to my store in one piece, and my staff had converted my back staff parking area into a VIP parking zone with caution tape and the works! I'll post some pics of that day in my picture zone!
Wow, what a day... Will never forget it!
