Getting around Z06 Canadian list prices?

I guess what goes around comes around. With our dollar at or above the $.85 level a base level Z06 lists out in the U.S. at about $77,500 Cdn. On top of this I believe they pay about 7% tax depending on the state of purchase. But the last I looked our Canuck pricing was north of $89,000 plus you need to add another 15% for sales taxes. The purchasing difference is basically $20,000. Anyone considering or actually has worked around this by buying, plating and insuring in the U.S.. Given the fact that many Canadians winter in the U.S., I assume that purchasing there is possible, even if the car spends more of its time in Canada. A Florida plate would also solve the front license plate dilema and maybe even get you some free hwy 407 use. The Z06 supply does not make this feasible yet but at some point it will down the road.

Although you can get them discounted in Canada, auto's need a major dollar adjustment.

hopefully someone with more know than me will pipe in but I understood that when our $ was very low that our prices were actually subsidized to keep us buying, maybe they are just trying to recoup some of their exchange losses. With GM and Ford in such financial troubles it will most definately be interesting to see how they deal with this and product offerings over the next few years.
