Yesterday afternoon me and Valerie aka 7t8vettegirl, decided to go on a little cruise and enjoy the nice fall weather. We were north of the city near MIdland and decided to go into Barrie for dinner. Pulled into a parking spot on the main drag downtown and as vettegirl was getting organized I popped the hood, just to see if there were any leaks etc. Some dude stops and asks if all is ok and I say "sure." He says "your car's cool I used to have a 69 back in the day and I'm buying you dinner!" We stroll into this crab bar he drops a $150 on the bar and tells the waitress that our night is on him! And he sets us up at the best table in the place. No kidding, at first I thought he was weird but I think he was just a bit drunk, recently divorced and lonley. Oh and rich. We all had a couple of drinks together, talked about cars, he drives a Porsche turbo Carrerra, and then he split and we had the coolest night. Vettegirl had a many GandT's and I had a few JDs, lots of fresh seafood and then the band showed up. We met lots of really nice people and came close to closing the place. As we were leaving some young guys were walking down the street and one guy asks me if my car is a 69 stingray. I tell him no a 78 silver anniversary and he says, " What a piece of sh*t!" Perfect! We drove home with the tops off at 2 a.m. and just laughed most of the way. A great night, met lots of nice people, good food, good music, good drinkin, and all because as our benefactor Gord said...vettes rule!
couldn't make dyno day because I was out of town way up north for work and didn't get home until real late Friday night. I had to sleep man, I was beat. I am sorry I missed it next time. I read the posts sounds like a great time glad you all had fun. See you at Mike's next weekend for the fall colors.

great story, the kid reminded me of a guy who told Kyle and I about his stock 77 Hemi Corvette that "somehow slipped past the mngt. at Chevy and into a local showroom", we congratulated him on a great chrome bumper find which he gleefully acknowledged.
