Default 98-04 C5's $350 for a tune and dyno time!

Hey guys-I've been asked by alot people about tuning there cars. But I only have software to do my own and a few other 02's and am looking into gettin a unlimited version of hptuners. Well over the weekend my friend John formally of Protech who now runs Horse Power technologies came up with a great idea. He has agreed to let me use his EFI live and dyno. The cost for a full tune and dyno time is $350. This includes using a wideband 02-if this of any interest just pm me and we can set up a time.

That's good to know...........
I will be doing a cam and possible heads over the winter (I hope!!),and could definately use help with tuning.

I wanted to go with the TR 224 but I was advised that this might be too much duration.

What do you think??

that's an amazing deal. Don't take it the wrong way, but how long have you been tuning cars for?? I'd want someone experienced to tune my car if I was in the market for that...

The TR 224 is the perfect all around daily driver cam. The lobes are easy on the valvetrain, idle is a slight lope and pulls to 6000 grand then goes flat so it doens't kill your bottom end. If you get it on a 114+4 it will pass emsissions with a good quality cat too. Defintely not too big. With headers, cam, cold air and a six speed ported TB and underdrive 370-380 rwhp through LS1 heads is easy, another 15-20 for LS6 and another 15-20 on top of that for AFR's. I have been tuning since 01 when I got my 02 Z06, since then all my friends have gone from Ford 5.0's to LS1 Camaro's and C5's and I have tuned all there cars. I'm hoping to have a website up soon where I will offer services such as cam grinds, tuning, head and cam swaps, header install exhaust installs everyhting to make your C5 stand out from the crowd. The 1 most important thing that I stress is that you dyno tune your car before any mod is made-this way you can see the gains from the mod. This test should be performed on the same dyno as different dyno's show different #'s. Also remember that dyno's are purely a tuning tool-nothing more-so don't get caught up in bench racing. You can pm me anytime or email me at abcocustom@bellnet.ca-thanks!

A 114+4 to pass emisions??

Does that mean there is 4 deg. ground into the cam or is that done by degreeing the cam upon installation??

What are the pro's and con's of doing this??

I am looking for more low end power than high end and great driveability and mileage

A local tuner I spoke with told me That 224 is way too much duration and I should be looking @ a 212 instead.

Any thoughts??

A 114+4 will be ground with 4 degrees of advance, therefore the installed centerline will be 110. You don't need to adjust it on a timing chain-the advance is already ground into the cam. The 4 degrees of advance will help your bottom end and you will not any lose any low end torque. A 212 -well why even bother unless your looking for something that idles exactly like stock. If you want 100% stock driveability then you need to look at the TR CheaTR cam or the MTI line of Strealth cams-don't forget the stealth cams require a GOOD spring as the lobes are very aggressive. As far as passing emissions the LS1 will pass with almost anything under 52 degrees of overlap and a good set of cats. I have had 228/230 cams pass if they are on a 114. Are you just doing a cam or are you doing headers as well? Emial me or call me if you want to discuss further.
