So I was just catching the end of CTV news and they are saying, I believe, there were places in Toronto that are charging over 2.00/L for regular gas.
Our government is really going to have to make some concessions on the gas tax because of our urban sprawl here, there is no way we can sustain such a hit at the pumps.
I guess this means I will be keeping my Vette now cause no one will be looking to purchase a big V8 at a time like this.
(This message's content may not make any sense due to lack of sleep and disbelief of what I may just be paying at the pump tommorow.)

The news is reporting that a station in Stratford is charging $2.25/L this morning. Everything I saw on the way into work was sitting right around $1.14.
I thinks it's time I find a job closer to home. This 100 km + round trip everyday is starting to kill me.
Location: Whitby..... proud member of the East End Posse, looking for an RFE!

Un frikking believable. When is the Gov gonna stand up and do something?
It cost me something like $60 bucks to drive up to Burls Creek and back a few weeks ago. And as much as I'd like to take part in Mike Derrys cruise, i'd be spending easily over $120 just in gas, plus food & drink.
I love my Vette, but this gas thing is getting too much

Mike, I'm not sure what you think the Gov't could or should do. Gas is a commodity. It costs what the market will bear. When there's less supply (e.g., when a significant portion of North America's refining capacity gets disabled by, say, a hurricane) and steady demand, the price goes up. Pretty simple.
The government didn't cause this and they can't fix it, except possibly by lowering the gas tax, which would result in them getting the money from us another way such as increased income tax or an increase in the GST. And I already pay enough income tax ....

, I would rather them keep the gas taxes where they are and put the windfall into our health care. Looks like bb's will take a big $ drop, I remember the first oil crisis in '73 when ppl couldn't give those bb cars away. I do on the other hand feel for those who commute long distances and cannot use public transpotation. These prices won't change my vette driving habits at all as it is only for fun anyway and I can walk that 7 minutes to work.
I am so sick of this. The prices are to high. For some reason I thought it was illegal to price gouge . But it must be legal now I guess. I remember the Quebec ice storm and generators were in short supply so some of the retailers increased the prices and were then charged for price gouging . How is this different? When I talk to people about it, the one thing I hear from most of the people is " at least we don't live in New Orleans " If I hear that one more f ing time. We don't live there , we live here. Why so complacent . We get screwed up the arse and then say well at least it isn't in the mouth. Something has to be done. Just my rant sorry but I just put $120 gas in my truck.
Canada has the capacity to refine all imported oil to gasoline, only in some small regional markets do they import gas across the boarder from the US... I spoke to a buddy of mine that is an Economist on Bay St. and he says that the gas companies are just taking this bad news and an opportunity to increase profit margins, because most people think that we import our gasoline from the US and therefore Canadian Consumers are expecting prices to go up.
I just read in the paper today that the big oil companys in Canada and the US are being investigated for collusion. Its seems there have been some internal memos leaked from some companys that spell out exactly how to create artificial shortages(by using excuses like the hurricanes) so they can then maximize profits.
I don't expect the government to do anything about it though, this is the country where the taxpayers get ripped off millions and millions of dollars by our elected government(Adscam),and where an admitted thief like Coffin doesn't even go to jail! For christs sake, Martha Stewart did less and went to jail for it!!
