For Chev to use the "SS" designation on an economy car like that is an abomination, in my view.

I always liked looking at the Ratfink cartunes when I was growing up in the 60's.

Just shows how bad GM is hurting right now.

Whatever anyone thinks of GM using the SS designation, they own it and they have to sell cars. This 'car' outperforms L-82 and L98 corvettes and they can call it anything they want to help them market it. This is much better than the 1974 GTO or the 1977 Duster or the 1983 Daytona Shelby ....

There is no shame in using SS to sell a 392hp Trailblazer either.

It's all about survival in the auto ind'y now. The next 5 years are going to prove very interesting and likely tough on the N.Am. auto worker. Toyota is rapidly approaching the #1 automotive co. in the world and it seems that GM will be finally maximising it's global archetecture for cutting costs and max. profits. The Korean cars are now up to a very close to the quality of the Japanese cars. Will VW survive this all as I said it is going to be interesting but very painfull for the wokers caught in this global restructuring.

Yeah, good point. They could have called it "Corvette", which would have undoubtedly helped them market it.

Flav, it's not about what GM's got a legal right to do, it's about what's the right thing to do.

They should have put their brilliant design and development team to work to think up some new designation that would make the successor to the Cavalier seem "cool", rather than desecrate the Super Sport designation. Just my opinion; but I suspect I'm not the only one who thinks so.
