Default Hope y’all have had better luck withd your Z06 than I

After waiting what seemed like forever for my riptide metallic blue Z06 it was delivered December 5. I was so excited! On December 13 it was a very pretty day so I dropped the top and went for a ride. Stopped at a stoplight I was enjoying the day when I heard tires squealing behind me and then comes the hard jolt. Getting out of my dream car with only 68 miles on the odometer, I discover, mostly cosmetic, damage to the rear. Little did I know that there is so much fiberglass behind the bumper and other areas in the back turning what looked minor into a $20,000 repair. My Z06 has been at the dealers since December 13. The parts to repair one of these are like hens teeth. I have no idea when I will get it back.

Car fax shows my Z06 has been in an accident, which most likely will be a 10% deduction when I get ready to trade. My hope was to go against the driver, that caused the accident for the diminished value. As my luck would have it that person has the Florida minimum property damage liability coverage of $10,000. My insurance company will go after that for what they are spending leaving me with nothing for the diminished value plus having to pay my $1000 deductible. The person that hit me has next to no assets so litigation is a waste of time and money. My insurance company, State Farm, tells me the only way I can receive diminished value is through the other persons insurance. Nothing left for me……….

Sure Hope your experience has been better than mine.

Why not go after your state farm for the diminished value? get an independent specialist/attorney

Sorry this has happened. You're in a really tough situation with little recourse for you except waiting; the hardest thing to do especially when summer is coming soon. I would think your car will be as good as new when you get it back- just make sure it looks to suit you before you accept it. I am really surprised at Florida's ridiculously low minimum insurance requirements, even Arkansas has a $25k minimum which in 2024 is still really low IMO. I'm sending you a PM.

Glad you are safe and only impact was the car. Enjoy the car after it's fixed. Plenty time left. Have had similar issues with a brand-new TT Porsche backing out of parking space.

Cheers

x2 get an attorney. Your insurance company will not want to litigate this and will likely settle. Unless there’s a specific state law that prevents diminished value claims I would question what they are telling you. Ask them to point out specifically where in your policy that the diminished value provisions are stated.

Sorry to hear, man! But, as others have said above, I would look real hard into the diminished value excuse your insurance is giving you. Hiring an attorney would be worth it in this case. Hopefully you are still healthy and no injuries from the crash. Good luck!

That really sucks! If it were me, I'd sell the vehicle the day I got it back. Take my loss now vs likely a much bigger loss down the road. The more Z06s that are produced and available, the greater loss of value you're going to experience. If someone can get a brand new one or slightly used, why would they buy one that had $20k in damage, regardless of how well the repairs are done.

Expect a 30% drop due to diminished value, at least that was my experience with a truck I owned when I went to trade it in.

Ask the People in Rolling Fork Miss about having state farm Insurance after a tornado leaves You with nothing but a slab of concrete where Your House used to be. I wouldn’t touch state farm with a 10 foot pole. They are a **** hole Company!!

If you have uninsured motorist coverage with sufficient limits to cover damages and 30% diminished value, I strongly suggest you contact Collision Safety Consultants and hire them to fight State Farm on your behalf. They have handled this sort of situation many times.

Damn, talk about a perfect storm of bad luck. I take it you were not injured in the accident, at least I hope so.

It doesn’t take much to run up the repair bill anymore - best of luck dealing with the other driver’s insurance company, your insurance company and the repair facility.
