Is there a benefit to keep my deposit in place? It's not like I'm locking in 2024's MSRP for a 2026. And it won't make sense to cash out the investments to buy a Z06 before 2025.

What would you do in this scenario?
That is a personal choice - I watied 2 years and got my car for MSRP and it was EXACTLY what I wanted and ordered. If you buy one off the lot, it should be EXACTLY what you would have ordered without compromise - Never spend $150K and not get 100% of what you wanted. Don't have regrets later "Almost perfect car except does not have front lift, or two tone seats, etc". Don't know how much deposit you are looking at. My dealer was only $500 until order placed / accepted / status 3000, then I had to add 7% of purchase price and balance upon delivery. Even if you deposit was $2K and you have that invested in a T-Bill or CD at 4%, we are only talking about $80 of interest paid a year - Is $80 bucks worth it not to get exactly what you want? The answer for me is easy....

Also in the Los Angeles/Socal area. Never seen a C8 Z06.

Also, many of the adds on Cargurus and AutoTrader are for pre-sold builds and old adds dealers haven’t taken down, ask how I know, lol. I’d guess about 100-150 new Z06 Coups for sale in the country.

Don't give up on Auto trader, found my Z07 via checking daily for stock sale only Z06 cars. About half were on lots or in transport for stock, un-spoken for. Dealers ask hi MSRP, you just wait them out til they realize market pricing for vehicle and are ready to move it, depending on config of options. Then close a deal if you find one close to what you want.

We have 4 in our club and 3 of us were part of an event doing some backroads on the way to some caverns on a recent outing. 3 of us have our cars on the road pretty regularly; the 4th could end up a garage queen.

When I want a car, any car in high demand, I put down REFUNDABLE deposits all over the country. Tell me the down side?
