2024 Z06 with 207 miles in the shop for 3 weeks...bad transmission???
I figured I would go ahead and tell my story...even though it doesn't have an ending yet. I picked up my 2024 Sea Wolf Grey HTC with 9 miles on it February 19th. This is my 5th C8 so to say I am a fan of them would be a pretty big understatement. I will save the story of my first four C8's for another time. But the quick run down of them: the first was a 2020 White Z51 Coupe (vin 411). The second was a 2021 Silver Flare Z51 Coupe. The third was a 2022 White (wrapped Nardo Grey) twin turbo. The forth was a 2020 Blade Silver Z51. None of them were flip cars.
So back to my 2024. I drove the car home from the dealership about 60 miles. Over the next week I put another 100 or so miles on it and attended the big Corvette meet in Dallas put on by Vette Syndicate. (My Z06 is talked about by Jason on his Youtube channel). On the way to the car show I had the top down. When I decided to put the top back up it didn't latch correctly on the passenger side. After several attempts I couldn't get it to attach and I have the message on the dash about the top not being secure. It wasn't that big of a deal, I called the dealership and scheduled an appointment for 8:15 on 2/28. I figured they would have the car for the day, maybe two tops. Was I in for a big surprise. I was about 1 mile into my 5 mile drive to the dealership when after stopping at a stop sign, I started forward and the car kind of jerked and then all hell happened!. The engine cutoff but the accessories stayed on. I started getting all types of warnings (you name it I received it). I tried multiple times to turn the accessories off...I was not able to turn them off. (This actually went on for more than two hours...). I contacted On Star and eventually a tow truck showed up. Getting the car on the tow truck was a challenge but eventually it was on the truck. Eat the dealership, getting it off the tow truck was even more of a challenge. Long story short about getting it off the tow truck...it took several people and about 1.5 hours.
Since my car was only going in for the HTC issue they couldn't check the rest of the issues for a couple days. It's now been there for 3 weeks and not much progress has been made. They have been pulling codes and sending them to GM. Today (3-19) they were finally able to get into the rear area under the convertible top. The tech was trying to send different commands to get the car to shift to neutral...No Luck. He is waiting to hear back from GM tomorrow on what to try next.
I am hoping I don't have to replace the transmission...but I guess we will see.
As for the 207 miles I have put on the car...RPMs have not been above 4500, it hasn't been driven hard at all.
I didn't have any issues with my first 4 C8s...I guess I hit my good luck limit
I will keep updating this thread as I get more information from the dealer. If anyone has experienced this nightmare, I am sorry, but please share how it turned out.

Melting Slicks
I mean, stuff happens but this isn’t minor or straight forward. I’d have my dealer reach out to GM about a replacement vehicle/buy back.

Keep us posted.
My previous 2023 C8 Z51 HTC was lemon lawed due to a bad transmission at 3700 miles and 6 months old.
It was at the dealership for 4 months and still wasn't fixed.
I now have a 2024 C8 Z06 HTC with 1300 miles.
Only CEL I got on the Z was a nuisance code which cleared itself.
Took it to the dealer and they reprogrammed the ECM anyway.

So sorry bro. What was your build date?
I only have 2200 miles on mine but i am still scared for every day i go drive the car, that will be the day something goes wrong. I know the car will get fixed at the dealership but it's a matter of WHEN AND WHERE the incident will happen. That's the only part that worries me.
Either or i hope it's something "minor" like perhaps electrical like the harness rubbing on the control arm, i know that's a common issue that will cause all sorts of issues.

As a life-long Corvette follower, and owner of multiple, has another generation had the persistent issues this far into the model run? I'm not "bashing" the C8, I'm asking a legitimate question.
The primary culprits appear to he the components that are a first for GM (i.e., DCT & HTC)?
OP - out of service 30 days (not consecutive) qualifies for lemon law in TX. This would be my route.

I'm not brand loyal, so if my expensive vehicle has issues right off the bat, it's gone. I don't care how much I "love" it or how long I waited for it.

Hey OP,
Thought that I’d commiserate with you. Sure hope they figure yours out. Mine just made it to the dealer. Doesn’t seem nearly as gnarly as yours! Sorry to hear about. It’s really a shame that we’re in this same boat.
About the comment on “sure doesn’t seem like so many generational issues than we do on the c8”, well I’m sure if we had the internet in 1953 someone would be bitching about their car only comes in white. 😅 sign of the times I suppose.

Well I heard back from the dealer today...and the transmission has to be replaced. I will be following back tomorrow to see if they have an update on the time it's going to take to get a new transmission. I assume it's going to be at least a couple weeks.
I am wondering if 207 miles is the lowest miles to have a transmission replaced on a Z06...
If anyone has any advice on how or who to contact at GM to try and speed up the process...that would be greatly appreciated.
Send me some luck for a quick transmission change out...and that there are no other issues once it's replaced.

Per the service department my new transmission is supposed to arrive at the dealership tomorrow. With a little bit of luck I could have the car back by the weekend. I am not holding my breathe but it would be great to get the car back...

I would hope you get the car back before then and all is perfect.
