$10k Over MSRP?
Looking at ordering a Z06 from a local dealer who says they have allocation. They want $10k
over sticker- is that reasonable based on what ya’ll are seeing currently?
thanks in advance

It's not the best deal, but not the worst. If being able to order exactly the car you want is worth a few grand to you and the allocation is for the current cycle, then it's worth it. I haven't followed it closely, but I think on the recent or current cycle, it was all stingrays and no Z06s, so be careful about providing a non-refundable deposit until you're certain they have the allocation, as opposed to promising to give you the next one that comes up. And double check the order sheet before they submit it. There have been a couple people post on here that they paid ADM and the dealer didn't order the car with the exact options the customer wanted.

I bought mine out of dealer inventory for $10K over on 2/14/2024, it actually arrived that day while I was on the phone.
It was the exact specs I wanted at $139K and I paid $149K.
One thing to consider is if you have a trade.
Many dealers will say they will sell you at MSRP and then undervalue your trade by $10K.
I paid $10K over and this dealer gave me $10K more than other dealers, KBB value for my trade.
To top it off, this was a long distance deal, I am in PA and Yes Chevy is in West Virginia 500 miles away, easiest car deal I have ever made.
They trailered the car to my house and picked up my trade.
Other dealers in my area are selling at $20K over, $25K over, and $50K over.
Actually the $50K over dealer called me and said they are down to $18K over.
If you can get a car right now that you love for $10K over I say go for it, life is short.

I think 10k for an immediate allocation is not grossly out of line. There are plenty of msrp deals out there but they are in stock and seemingly higher optioned specs.
if you can sleep at night with money that a few months from now will be 100% lost equity then go for it. On that same side of the coin there is no reason to not expect another significant price increase for the ‘25s
If you decide to do it tell them you will make a deposit once the order hits 2000 status. If they have an immediate allocation and are above board they should issue doing that
good luck

Fixed the title for ya!
10k over, hmmmmm -Did they say when the order goes in? They may have allocations they think are coming.
As others have stated make sure you are dealing with a reputable Dealer. Good Luck.

Bought a cancelled customer ordered Z late Dec '23. Just luck that I came across it a local, 5 miles, dealer. Made my C7 Z trade-in no problem, plus value for C7 A8's especially have been declining. Specs were 100% what I would have ordered.
At $10K over, decent trade-in, being 77 (thankfully in great helath), and only on a ZR1 list, it was a no brainer. Very few reasonable distance in stock Z's, partially due to my trade-in logistical considerations, exist.1/2-3 year wait a deal killer. Not having lift option on many dealer ordered cars was also a deal killer, considering Northeast crappy roads, along with my hilly driveway angles.
People have lots of opinions without knowing all aspects and sensitivities for a particular owner.

I paid over for a pretty specific build that I wanted. I found a few that weren’t great spec wise IMO at MSRP. That’s basically where the market is at, you can find cars at MSRP, but if you want a build more to your tastes you will probably have to pay over for it. Who knows what the future holds, keyboard warriors have been saying for years now that the market will be back to normal in X amount of time and it hasn’t yet for high demand cars like this.
Only you can decide if that 10k is worth it or not to have a car like you want in the relative near future.

I remember this time last year people were stating the Z06 was not going to exceed 3000-4000 a year, only 10K-20K will be built, the car will never depreciate cause a FPC NA V8 will never happen again, etc. Well.... point one failed, point two is on its way of failing, etc. So far Z06 production has fallen in line with historical norms than a new paradigm shift in what GM planned to do.
I paid over like you to get exactly what I wanted. Z06 market pricing certainly has collapsed faster than SR that is for sure. But think demand for Z06 is still there.

Keyboard warriors on both sides have been stating BS that hasn't turned out.

$10K over without trade-in requirement is not bad, if they actually have an allocation. I got MSRP, but they required trade-in of my C8 Stingray, but by the time sales tax credit was figured in, I probably got about what I could have sold the Stingray for private party, so I was happy with the deal. Ultimately I was willing to go $5K over to get the car I wanted, and now that I've experienced it, I would have willingly paid $10K over to get one sooner.
