Default 2024 Z06 HTC - 600 miles- CEL Came on

I am hoping this isn't happening again.
9/15/2023 my 2023 C8 Z51 HTC at 3700 miles and 6 months old totally died on me on the way home from work.
4 months in the shop and the transmission was still not fixed so GM bought the car back.

Fast forward to 2/19/24, my Brand New 2024 C8 Z06 HTC was delivered to me.
Today 3/1/24 I was looking forward to a nice long drove to the shore with my wife.
Remote started the car to warm up the interior as it was cold out and started loading the car up.

We get in the car and I notice the CEL was on. I turned the car off and on a few times, CEL still on.
Curious I started to back the car out of the garage down the driveway and I noticed it felt like the car did not feel like it was getting feedback from the gas pedal? This feels familiar to my 23 C8 when the problem occurred.
I drove the car around the block with no issues, but something didn't feel right or maybe I am just worried.

Just like in September my trustworthy modified 2015 Porsche 911 Turbo S with 53K miles stepped in and made the 125 mile trip.

I called the Chevy service department who obviously know me well and we agreed that on Monday morning I will drive the car 4 miles there on my way to the gym (they are right across the street) and they will scan the car for codes.
Of course if the car does not feel like it is driving OK they will tow it.

Anybody else have this issue?

This can't happen to me twice can it?

There is def something up with the remote start throwing a cel. I think it might be due to not setting the parking brake although I haven’t tested this theory.

ive had my car 5 months now and 2k miles and I never remote started it once. Because I fear I’ll get a cel.

Activate OnStar and ask them for the codes being reported....

Had a CEL at 600 miles - was just an O2 sensor. Like was suggested just find out what the code is so you don't have to worry yourself over it. Could be as minor as a sensor like mine was.

that’s a good point. However, my Z not long ago had a fuel rail sensor that was bad. Did not even get to pick up the car from the dealer. Sat there for a month before it was fixed. That’s before I even got to pick up the car nevermind drivibg it.

With these modern cars everyone needs a basic code reader

Man that sucks, sorry to hear that has happened to two C8s. My gut tells me these cars are generally reliable, but when it's you then that perception is different. Knock on wood, I've owned 5 Chevys, including my current C8, and all of them have been rock solid with zero issues. Best of luck getting this resolved.

At least I got my 500 mile break in done in the first week before this happened. I would hope GM would not push it past 30 days again.

I've owned around 20 Corvettes, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7 and C8 models.
I had a 2000 C5 bought back due to a Fuel Sender Unit that they could not repair, they bought back my 2023 C8 due to a bad transmission not repaired for 4 months. All the others were bulletproof.

I am sure some Corvette Fan Boy will chime in how this is a made up issue to bash their beloved Corvette since I also posted this same thing in the C8 general Forum where a few people are very sensitive, but I am posting this to get advice and make other owners aware of these issues.
Again, I love the car so I am hoping it is something stupid.

As we should be able to do.
One thing I dislike about my Porsche is no remote start.

As far as code readers, I don't know about them all. I have an Autel unit that cost $300 to use on my 992 to reset oil, etc. You don't need anything more than a harbor freight unit to read codes.

If car runs fine, leave driver door open until car resets and go drive it. A fluke O2 or sensor error could reset and go away.

I'm assuming you had remote start the car before though right?

Not saying this is the issue but some believe these issues can happen from remote starting and the car not perfectly "leveled". And when they have the parking brake on then remote starting, seems to have any issues.

Also about the car not running right while backing up. Could it be from the constant turning off/on you were doing to see if the CEL would still be there?

That's never good on a cold engine.

I ordered a code scanner, it arrives tomorrow.
I will scan the car and try your method.

I have remote started the car before and it is in a level garage, but the front lift is on for that location.
We will know for sure tomorrow if the CEL is still on.

Sorry OP, hopefully it is a quick fix.

I to remote start my car quite a bit and have been lucky with no issues. Who knows with how many systems are on these cars. Did you check your gas cap?

First thing I thought of and then I remembered, no gas cap on these cars.

Sorry a bit OT, but I can’t believe these don’t have locking gas doors.

Yup, I know. That’s why I can’t believe they don’t have lockable gas doors.

My 2021 HTC Z51 locks when the vehicle is locked (doors, etc.) and security system is set.
