Default 2024 owners - how are the safety aids?

Now that 2024 owners have had time with their cars - how are the safety assistants?

Helpful, annoying?
easy to turn off permanently, or required each key cycle?

They are fine.

I turned off the lane keep stuff, its just a button. It never turns itself back on.

Auto high beams are nice.

I don't even remember what the other safety things are... that's how noticeable they are to me.

I also shut off the lane departure alert. I did not shut off the one that warns you that you are approaching a car in front of you. It's not that intrusive and it can be adjusted.

Best safety assistant is between your ears. I leave mine turned on.

Anybody yet get almost rear ended when your Automatic Emergence Braking hits the brakes hard when no human would have used the brakes? Both our Forester and our Accord have done this several times.

My Audi has done this pulling out of the coffee shop when another car is turning in, triggers some side collision action and spills the coffee - not a big fan in that car - can't be turned off, only sensitivity adjusted

While it sounds like it can be disabled 1 time and remember the setting for the vette long term, I'd like to confirm if that's how the botton actually works

Also, does it turn off automatically in track mode like for a track day

I have yet to have the car apply the brakes at all and I have had a couple close calls in traffic. The avoidance alarms go off but have not experienced the car actually apply brakes.

Lane keeping warning can be turned off. Collision avoidance you can adjust sensitivity but it cannot be turned off.

It is kind of alarming when the HUD shows a bright red square with two cars colliding when it thinks you're too close while making some fun passes at full throttle.....but that's probably me being unsafe. The car kind of turns me into a lunatic.

I posted this on the C8 FB groups after instructing in a 2024 Z51 at VIR this past weekend. Apparently it can be turned off fully in the settings. My student wasn't sure and we never had it kick in, but I did see the car icon change from green to orange as we approached some cars under braking. We set it to the lowest sensitivity w/ the steering wheel button and he had already turned the lane assist off.

good to hear it only gives the visual warning and no early or unnatural brake intervention. I actually like the idea of it being on during street driving as a last minute safety net if it's not disruptive

Great data point, was curious how it would handle track driving if left on, even better if it could be turned off while on track
