Well, it looks like I’m gonna bite the bullet and take it in and try and get my 24 fixed. There’s no way I can live with this loud ticking noise. Stopped by the dealership yesterday and even the service manager couldn’t believe how loud it was. I have a convertible, but you could still hear it outside from 40 ft away With the exhaust in sport mode. Super embarrassing for $160,000 car. I hope and pray they’re able to fix it. They’re scheduled in a few days to do the sound meter. How in the H… is Chevrolet still building these with this problem?! I will keep everyone informed on my ordeal.

Hey, GM! How does a car like this even leave the plant? You test the engine for 20 minutes. Isn't the guy who built the engine and puts his name on it supposed to be listening to it during the test run? Then you start up the car in the plant. Sounds like you could hear the clattering clear across the plant.

This is ****-poor.. If you can't build them better than this, then stop production.

If their 20 min "dyno" testing can't capture these issues, then they need to revise their post-assembly testing process.

I think the engine is moved to another area for the dyno run-in and the builder isn't the one to who does the hook-up and test. However, there should be someone there listening for the noise or a sensor added to record the valvetrain and identify if the ticking is there.

The larger question is why do some not see it for a few hundred miles and some report it going away after a while. Hopefully someone asks the question about Z06 ticking during the Bash Q&A.

Mine was really bad starting at 200 miles.

At 900 miles I only hear it when the car is cold.

I'll keep driving it and address it at my 1st service.
