Blemished Carbon Revolution wheels from the factory
Anyone take delivery of a ZO6 (w/ZO7 package) and receive carbon fiber wheels with conspicuous blemishes or defects?

Melting Slicks
Is the light colored CF edge on the wheel a photo thing or is it a different color? I cant tell from the photo. If it is yellowed out there that is clearcoat damage, but could be fixed I believe.
If not: I see a small quarter sized scuff on the inner barrel of the wheel near the edge. Looks like a clearcoat repair is needed.
That's a good catch.
Now the wheel has to be removed to see it, and that fact that the photo shows the wheel is removed means it could have just happened as the wheel was being removed.
Because this is a clearcoat repair and the fibers dont appear to have been touched Carbon Revolution recommends the following:
"Any shop can repair minor scrapes to this clear coat layer. For more significant curb rash damage where the top aesthetic layer of the wheel has been disrupted, but the structure of the wheel has not been compromised, our wheels can be repaired through a specialist carbon fiber repairer." CR

That’s ok because most people can’t see it ; )

At best it is clear coat but could be deeper than that. Only way to know for sure is to examine using CT scan, x-ray or ultrasound. GM claims this is a "normal" blemish; I say it's damage. Besides, is there such as thing as a "normal abnormality"? On a $180,000 car??

Not justifying blemish, but I suspect a few months of driving will look worse.

What, no warranty? Seems obvious that it would be a manufacturer defect!🤷🏻♂️

Posted this to see if anyone else encountered a similar defect and what the outcome with GM was.

I hope they can see this as an issue and work with you to resolve this to your satisfaction. I do appreciate your post as I won't be going for the CF wheels.

Agreed; if/when is exactly what I told GM and I have no recourse once I put the wheel on the road.
Truth be told the dealer missed that anomaly but they also missed a big chunk of rubber missing from the sidewall of the Cup2-R (same wheel); both very dangerous oversights. The dealer is on the hook for the cost of replacement ($5k) because they signed off when GM delivered the vehicle. Now they use GM to protect them and I (customer) get to fight with massive GM.
As well, since they conclude all of their carbon fiber wheels are inherently flawed (BS and quite a marketing campaign for CF wheels) caveat emptor is not in play; no one warned or advised me the CF wheels would have conspicuous flaws/blemishes when I signed the deal.
Finally; this is not a “normal” flaw. This is damage and probably caused by a strap incorrectly placed on the wheel during transport from Bowling Green to New Hampshire.
Lesson to ya’ll; inspect carefully!!!

It kinda looks like an abundance of clear coat? If it was worn down from a strap wouldn’t you’d see carbon weave coming through?

^Negative.
The only time I've seen that form of wear was on my front diffusers (various cars) from hitting curbs on/off track. The weave is stressed.
