Who plans on trading up from Z06 to a ZR1
So I am excited for the next step!
I have owned close to 20 Corvettes since the 4th generation of Corvette. BUT..Ever since the C6 ZR1 was introduced I aspired for the Corvette king of the hill. Always came down to finances. As I could not responsibly afford it. Now with my kids finishing up college and business growing for many decades. (Thankfully/gratefully) I have decided I will be trading up my C8 Z06 for the new C8ZR1! I'm so excited, I can't wait!
I was curious how many people plan on doing this??

Like I said in the other ZR1 thread, if it’s a hybrid, I’m gonna pass. It’s gonna have to blow me away to trade up for one.
I’m #3 on a top dealers list, they say they should get 5 allocations, no more.
Will see..

Not sure I'd give up the purity of the NA experience for a couple of tenths ... but I'll decide when they release the actual specs on the ZR1.
Until then it's impossible for me to formulate a level of desire.

Not me. I wanted NA goodness. Don't want FI goodness even though the ZR1 will absolutely destroy if the DCT holds up.
Plus with plaids costing only 90k, a plaid should beat the new ZR1 in a straight line anyway.

I doubt I'll get one. The current Z06 is about as much performance as I can use/want for the street. Above that price point I'd have to go with a P car TTS. I'm going to keep my Z06 as a collector for the last greatest NA V8. I think it's the end of an era, and I don't want to play in the next era.

Safety Car
Z06 is the car I wanted - high revving NA motor with a crisp feel. While there are things I would like to improve on the car, mainly gearing and weight, the ZR1 won't solve them. The Z06 is more than good enough for what I do, so I have no desire to spend more money to not fix the things that separate the car from greatness.

Should read, Who hopes to even be fortunate enough to even have the opportunity to trade up!
Folks cant even get a Z06! Let alone hope to get an allocation for a ZR1!
Don’t think there will be many opportunities ! Jmo

Probably not. Never thought I'd say this, but after having the Z06 for a month or two, I'm actually having thoughts like "how capable does a street car even need to be" lol. Z06 is plenty for me.

C8 check
C8 Z06 check
ZR1 ? - I got on with Mike Furman over 2 years ago and word has it that the ZR1 will be produced for at least 2 years.
I hope that will be enough for my number to come up. If not, I'll be happy with the Z06 for many years to come.

I don't think so. I mean, I'm not on any list anyway, so there's really no chance for me in the first place. But even if I could, I don't think I would. The Z06 has exactly what I wanted - a high revving NA V8 that sounds closer to a Ferrari than the Corvette's of old. A ZR1 is probably gonna be a beast, but the Z06 has more than enough power for me already, and the sound is the true highlight for my driving experience.

Plaid S, their top car is not even close to $90K, base alone is $114K. Fully optioned, it’s over $130K.

Porsche GT3 vs GT2. Most would agree the GT3 is more of a drivers car and sounds better. The same is true of the Z06 vs TT ZR1. The Z06 is the one to have imo. I’m still amazed by the car with almost a year of ownership. I’ll drive the ZR1 and see but not convinced it’s the better choice.
