I do not believe the plug is one time use, but since it is very different from what any oil "techs" have ever experienced it may be good to have on on hand. To take that plug out of the Z06 (only) remote oil tank, you push in and twist and it comes out, no tools needed. I hope an oil tech does not destroy the limited threads in the oil tank, replacing that will be $$$+.
I watched that you tube oil change video. It appears the plastic plug gets pushed up and is turned to the right and comes to a stop. Then the video shows him giving it a slight turn to the right with a socket to snug it. No torque spec given. I know he specified 18 ft lbs for the filter housing and the other (15MM) drain plug).
Is it just a matter of "snugging" it gently or what? Don't want that coming out.
Anyone that's done this know?

I have not done the oil change or played around with the plug. My "understanding" is to take it out you push up and do a quarter turn (don't remember left or right, but suspect left) and pull the plugh out. Installing it would be just the reverse, not aware that any socket should be used, just make sure when you put it in,do the opposit turn and make sure it seats back down the amount you hat to push up. Since the plug drains the dry sump tank, there should be little or no pressure and the o-ring seals it.
I agree, input from someone that has already done the Z06 oil change themselves - first hand experience would be good input.

Yes, looks like you push it up and then over to the right about 1/4 turn to a stop to install, but the guy did put a socket on it after that?? He appeared to be just snugging it with light pressure to the right. I don't want to break the thing but I certainly don't want it coming out.. Hopefully someone chimes in that has done it.

My "expectation" is that once the plug is pushed up and to the right, it would drop down slightly into a final resting notch and trying to turn it any further to the right would serve no purpose other than to possibly break the tab that sits in the notch. It would be the o-ring that seals the tank from leaks.
See:

On the C6Z transmission drain, the plug had an o-ring on it. When you reinserted the plug into the machined housing, a spring clip held the plug in place with the o-ring sealing it from leaks, not any torque holding the plug. The C8Z dry sump tank drain seems to be a variation on this theme, another reason to talk to any tech doing an oil change on this car.
I would still like input form someone who has hands-on experience doing this.

I'll be at the dealership in Rhode Island tomorrow picking up a buddy's Z06. He's out in California. They have an excellent Corvette Z06 Tech there. I'll ask him and report back tomorrow.

I spoke to the Z06 Tech at Masse Chevrolet today regarding the plastic plug. He said you do not torque it. Use a 3/8" drive, push it up and over to the right until it stops, about 1/4 turn. There are 2 little tabs on the plug that line up with the stops it threads into.
He also said it's important to pull the drains within 10 minutes after shut down to get all the oil out of the sump.

Chevy wants you to start your car up on the QJ and warm up the oil so when you take out the plugs the newly ho oil will get on your hands.

Well, the capacity on the Z06 is 8 quarts. Maybe your delay causes you not to get it all out? That is what the tech that does it for a living told me.
