80 miles and my 2024 Z06 gets a flatbed ride!

I can't say mine has exactly the same issue but at 69 miles mile my Z06 is also leaking a lot of fluid from the DCT.
Check my thread for photos.
Mine was built on 8/10.
The service dealer said he could push on the driver-side half-shaft and oil would run out from around the seal.
It seems like a bearing failure allowing the half-shaft to have excessive play causing the oil leak.
DCT has to be replaced. Dealer cannot go into the DCT.
Waiting to hear back from GM when a new DCT would be available.
When did the DCT production mover from Tremec to GM?

^ Your car was built 8/10, but only has 69 miles on it? Mine was built 8/11, picked up at NCM 8/29 and has 3,000 on it now and had first service 2 weeks ago to check it all over.

Mine was built on 8/8 so same week as OP and so far so good.
not sure what is happening with these cars but the fact it’s going to be the last of its kind I think gm knows these flaws and failures are such a small dent in their reputation and profit that they will just soldier on with the rest of the variants knowing it could be the same thing moving foward.

Mine (most likely) had a leak in the DCT day one too. We caught it at a 500 mile checkup. Hope its something easy like mine - looked like they dropped it and damaged the gasket on installation. Good luck.

I don't think the OP's was built in August. Most likely October as the OP didn't pick-up until 11/17.
I'm curios as mine was built in late October....

my car got cleared for shortly before the strike. I think OP made it as well.

**** happens. 8k C8 Z06s built over 125k C8s built people are going to win the unlucky lottery now and again. It happens. And it sucks when it's you. But it isn't the norm.
The DCT always worried me as it's their first go at it. But as more are made the cost will keep coming down. Transmission specialists will become more experienced with the failures and repairs will be less.
Look at Tesla for example. Tesla makes the whole battery be replaced 15 20k but a repair shop can do it for a fraction as they'll replace smaller pieces. Same thing for this.
Also. I would take Transmission issues over engine issues every day of the week. 5/60k mile warranty and can buy an extension.
By the time these are out of warranty it will be a much smaller bill than today's 18 20k full replacement.
Doom and gloom.
OP please report back when they diagnose it. Sucks they didn't jump right on it for at least whether its minor or major??
Was that your selling dealer?

No way around it, just plain ole sucks to experience this type of quality issue on a 160k car. No words, no warranty of any kind can make you feel better.

I’ve had thoughts of keeping the C8 Z06, my first Corvette, for as long as I can get an extended warranty… and then selling and buying a C6 Z06, my original Z06 dream car, as my forever car. I’d love to keep this Z06 forever, and that was my original plan, but it just might not make sense unfortunately.
But none of this is going to stop me from experiencing and owning this car. It’s special.

OP, sorry about your bad luck and hope your dealer can repair quickly and get you back behind the wheel ASAP!
BTW, you have a great attitude and perspective considering the situation.

Dang. The really shitty part, and would drive me crazy is the now oil stained brick in your nice driveway! Replacing the bricks would make them stand out due to the surrounding to be faded. I believe GM owes you a new DCT as well as a new driveway!! Best of luck!

Well, mine made it only 129 miles before it craped out. Same thing but different issue with mine, blown left front shock assembly spilled hydraulic fluid all over my brick driveway as well. It sucks, but I can certainly empathize, and I know how you feel. I hope it gets fixed ASAP for you. I too, waited years to acquire this car and now I can't wait to get rid of mine. I just don't trust the car; you never know what's going to happen to it next. Once the six-month warranty transfer restriction is lifted, I will be putting mine up for sale.

yeah. How's the valves on the LS7 treating everybody till this day? How much did it cost back then of out of warranty to replace that engine? In today's dollars? Good god. Half the value of the car.

We keep buying them, so they have no incentive to fix it. They've significantly increased the prices of these cars but not quality. For $5k I can get aftermarket heads on my LS7 and not have to worry about blowing the engine. C8 owners have no other alternative to the DCT that they apparently can't get right.

The OP will have a lot of company in the coming months and years. All Z06 owners should be building up a mid five figure post warranty maintenance fund.

Diagnosis for GM on DCT leak
Got a call today from the Service Manager at my dealer, Selman Chevy.
GM had a field service engineer come by to view the car yesterday.
His diagnosis is a cooler line washer that failed or was installed incorrectly.
Part is being flown in today and I should have the car Monday.
Fingers crossed the paint is not damaged as it was been pawed over by a number of service guys. 😯
