Dealer called me today, time to order a zo6. One problem.
The dealer called me today, they can order my Z06. However, some unexpected life turns are stopping me. Thought about ordering it through my dealer (msrp) and unloading it for a few extra bucks. Or maybe just pass on it.

Unless you can get some unicorn spec (Z07, all the aero, loaded up with carbon fiber), the big flipping days seem to be on the way out. Ordering one that is generally readily available (as in a spec that is available because no constraints prevent ordering it....no aero options or Z07, no carbon fiber) is a fairly decent gamble if the intent is to flip the car and make some money.
One recent example: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...onvertible-53/
MSRP for the car was $166k, sold for $170k. Private seller that originally paid MSRP probably would have lost money on this since they would have had to pay sales tax. But this was a dealer, so they made a little extra but nothing crazy.
More of a unicorn spec that just ended: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...onvertible-55/
$20k over original MSRP. But good luck getting a Z07 any time soon lol

Once you consider paying sales tax and dmv fees you will break even at best, also I think you need to still hold the Z06 for 6 months before selling in order to keep the warranty in tact. Even though the market is cooling, I think you can drive it for a few years with minimal depreciation(especially in big city markets) but you are not making a profit on the car.

Unless you can order Z07, you won't make money. At least the risk of losing a few bucks is there and if 'circumstances' have shifted, maybe that means financially and maybe that is not worth the risk? Only you can decide but a Z06 allocation is not the instant $20K commodity it was a year ago.

Look at it this way... you won't make meaningful money flipping it... but you can buy one of the best sports cars on the planet, and drive it for a year or so for free... not bad.

If you ordered your z06 I would think you could own it for six months and break even on the sale.
six months of z06 ownership would be fun yet there are no guarantees so please consider that slight possibility.
buying paying taxes and selling to make a profit is pretty much over . IMO

The question being answered was from original poster who asked would he profit big from buying a z06 he did not intend to keep and then selling the Z06 for some type of monetary profit.
I would suggest that profit as a sole motivator in buying a z06 and then selling it for more than msrp and taxes would not be worth the time.
glad to hear buying a z06 to get a good trade in on a current vehicle owned by forum members
