Default Finall got my GM Rewards points, can't use them

UPDATE, NOV. 10.2023: TODAY MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER DELIVERED MY CUP2R TIRES , PRICED MATCHED AND USED MY GM POINTS TO PAY FOR THEM. ALL IS GOOD RE THIS THREAD, DELIVERY WAS 10 DAYS.

I took delivery Feb7, warranty says Feb. 1 when I paid for it. I waited the 6 months plus 45 days and no points so I went on live chat, advisor and got over to My Rewards chat. They indicated I should see the points in 3-5 business days. Six business days later I go thru the live chat again and am told another 3-10 days. October 9 my 500K points finally show up (yea!).

Today I went to my local Chevy dealer to order a set of Cup2R ZP tires to go on my factory rims for HPDE events. They will price match so I gave them the TireRack price sheet (available for delivery in 1-day). They go thru their GM parts and the Cup2R ZPs are not available and there is no target delivery time when they might be available. So I have a choice. I can pay out of pocket and get the TireRack tires immediately (it will probably be into December before I need them with the other work I would do/have done for track days) or have Chevy try to put an order in and maybe get them at some future unknown time or not get them. The dealer would require a deposit, could use the points, but likely no way to "refund" the points if they cannot get the tires.

While not as bad as people who's car is out of service for months and cannot get C8Z parts to repair the car or as bad as wanting a C8Z Z07 and on the list forever but Chevy cannot produce the cars, it is another way Chevy is not providing customer support for this wonderful performance and touring car.

Dave, I would use a little caution having them delivered in the Winter months, depending on where they are being shipped from - something over which you have no control. I would hate to get a set that had been sitting in a truck in the frozen tundra for too long, although since they will not be mounted and supporting weight I guess they could be okay.

Not sure if you still have a balance on the loan required for the points incentive program, but if so I thought you could apply the points the balance.

TireRack would ship them to me from Reno. While I am in the AZ high country, I will be using them down in the valley. I am aware the care the Cup tires require. We have cold mornings here and I would likely drive down to the Valley and stay overnight to avoid cold morning driving on these tires. It was 36* outside this morning, but the C8Z showed 62* when I backed out of my unheated garage with the PS4S ZP tires.

No loan, so using the points for "stuff" is my best bet. Chevy was constrained on the front splitter so I got that cash from C7Carbon. X-brace on constraint so got that in the aftermarket for $1.4K savings. At this point I would likely only use the points for tires or service parts. With the warranty, it should take years to use them all for service parts.

Interesting… thought that was a requirement of the program and why certain people took out small GMAC loans even if they didn’t need to finance. It’s a moot point now I guess.

I think/thought they were doing that as a way of “cashing in” the points more easily than paying for a ton of oil changes and such.

Get a $5k GM loan and then pay it off with the points

Any thoughts on getting a ZR1, or maybe another chevy vehicle like an suv or truck at some point? Asking because I believe you can use the points towards future vehicle purchases as well.

Might be worth applying for the GM credit card, charging the TireRack purchase on the card, and then paying the balance with the points. It’s what I’m going to do when my points come in since there’s really nothing I want from GM at this time. Here’s the link to apply (and no, I’m not an affiliate, so don’t get anything if you sign up, lol).

From what I have read on here, the new company managing the GM credit card has been a horror show to deal with getting rewards points used to pay balances on the card.

I kept my used 09Z for 12+ years and see keeping this Z as long as I am likely to be driving so no ZR1 or other GM vehicle in my foreseeable future.

How do points go to credit card balance? I've had GM card for years and only ever could use them for purchases from GM.

I’m also curious on this. That would be awesome if it’s possible!

No... any buyer of a 2023 Z06 who keeps the car 6 months gets 500K points which has a $5K value toward GM stuff.

Exactly... a small loan through GM financial allows me to use the points toward that and effectively get a $5K discount on the car.

I borrowed $10K at 8.89% back in August... rates are silly. I could have financed through BOA at the time for high 5s, but it's fine to get the $5K and pay it all off.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I have nothing to use them on and I have a loan with a different bank. Does anyone know if it's possible to get a 2nd $5k loan from GM on my car and then just pay that off?

I seen where some folks have sold them on here!
example would be, I have almost 8k in points.
someone is buying a GM car/truck. They gave me 6k
i let them use the points to get 8k off the vehicle!

so, far I bought 2018 equinox for wife got 7500 $ off.
i bought 2020 SR redeemed about 3000$ off.
i bought Z06 in Feb and got about 8500$ off the Z.

now I have about 8000$ built up
