Default Way too many Rapid Blue Z06's!! :)

I was talking to a Corvette buddy at breakfast this morning, and we noticed one thing- Why does it seem that 75% of the Z06's we see on the road and on youtube are Rapid Blue? It really is true for me when searching around, and while we were having coffee we searched through youtube and sure enough an overwhelmingly presence of Rapid Blue Z06's. . My buddy said he thinks the Corvette factory deliberately pushed out more Rapid blue cars (which I thought was funny), mainly because he saw a video of a guy that placed an order for a rapid blue Z and while he was years to go on the wait list, somehow his order got picked up from the factory. (what a lucky guy!).

I have nothing against the color personally, even though I dislike it and would never drive around in a power blue car (my C6 Z was Jetstream blue and to me more of the Blue I prefer). I'm not trying to offend Rapid blue owners.. but you certainly don't own a rare color. It certainly is no Torch Red as far as production #'s though.

Anyways, just a Saturday observation... I know this isn't factual if you look at the actual numbers, I'm just curious if everyone else feels like they see nothing but Rapid Blue everywhere.

And to all the Rapid blue owners.. congrats!

I love the rapid blue ! had a C8 very early 2020 stingray delivery. It was an awesome color as it was rarely seen. I’ve had my black Z06 for six months and very happy with the color as I’m not necessarily a fan of black cars, but it just looks so menacing.

I agree on the fact that there seems to be a large number of Rapid Blue Z's for some reason, but I think it's because the people buying them want a flashy car and don't want the ever-so-popular Red (both Torch and Red Mist). The Rapid blue stands out, but to me powder blue is not a color I want on any car. When I think of a powder blue car, I think of a BMW M type car.

If I never see another Rapid Blue C8 Z06 I wouldn't be disappointed. It's. color I would never buy.

If these numbers are correct, then only 6% are rapid blue:

Default Only 261 in the US Market

OK, I will bite...

According to C8Tracker.com there have been 261 Rapid Blue 2023 Z06s built for the US market. This is a fairly low percentage of the total ~6000 2023 Z06s built. The number would be a little higher if it included Canadian and ROW cars, but I am sure still a low percentage.

I never could understand why Corvette has as many shades of gray (counting White, Black, and Silver) as color. I for one think sports cars should stand out. You can see from my signature, I am partial to blue. I was ready for something different this time and my preference would have been a Pastel Orange, or Salmon Color, but GM doesn't have the courage to try that yet. So I picked Rapid Blue as the most unique color.

In person, Rapid Blue draws people like a magnet and gets a lot of compliments.

Obviously the owners that have Rapid Blue love that color, not one I would choose or want.

I actually think the guys buying them (Rapid Blue C8's) are more drawn to attention seeking, and hence are more likely to have a youtube channel, post all over the place, attend events, etc. When I say that, it's not intended to be derogatory to the guys that own that color (attention happens in a Z06 no matter what).

You'd have to admit they stand out more in a crowd than the normal Red's, blacks, and whites. I kind of place Rapid blue in the Yellow car group, it's an attention grabber but not a big % of production overall (yellow is produced less than the Rapid blue even though yellow is more of a classic corvette/team color).

I'm more of a Red/Black/White car person myself, but I do love Electron blue.

Whoever can do the analytic on resale values on colors, that would be interesting. My sense is Rapid Blue is like Mexico Blue for the GT3, mid pack in terms of the actual ordering %, but commands a higher resale value (more sought after) because it appeals to the "attention seeking" crowd. I am biased, given blue is my favorite color, but I wonder if it follows the same trend as Porsches or McLarens in the "vibrant" blue tone category.

Numbers bear it out. There are certainly way less Rapid cars than Black. You just notice the Rapid ones more.

If I had started this thread, I would have said exactly the same except substitute Rapid Blue with Red Mist.

Chevy built 53,448 C8's for 2023 of that 11% were Z06's or 5,879 of that 6% of the Z06's were Rapid Blue or 352

I thought the same thing about Red Mist it seemed like every other Z06 was Red Mist but that % is 9% or 529

My wife's Porsche is Miami Blue. It was a "special" color in 2020, I think about $3,000. No longer on the standard Porsche color list, but they will still paint one that color using the "paint to sample" option for over $13,000. She gets compliments from strangers all the time on the color. Oddly, the public valuation services tend to devalue resale for stand-out colors, favoring all the neutral, non-color "shades of gray." I suppose this is based on mass market trade-ins where dealers would rather have subdued colors that won't offend anyone and appeal to a wider number of potential customers.
I am with you on stand-out colors ultimately having higher resale value on unusual and exotic cars. It may take longer to find the right buyer, but ultimately someone looking for that unique blue, red, yellow, orange, etc. will pay more for it.

From last night at our local cruise-in. Z06 row in primary colors only!

Just because you see a few in your area the color you like doesn’t mean it’s near the most popular color.

21 911 Turbo S club blau beside 24 911 Turbo S shark blue

Shark blue Turbo S beside rapid blue Z06

Red, not white, and blue. Torch red Z06/ ceramic matrix gray stingray / rapid blue Z06. Shark blue and rapid blue both look really good, hard to believe rapid is lighter.

I have a Z06 in the least popular color: Silver Flare Metallic.

The color is spectacular and EVERYONE loves it beyond a quick compliment. It’s not a “look at me” color — it’s a color that gives the car a serious presence and an upscale look. On its own, it happens to be a terrific variant of silver. There’s quite a bit going on in the metallic flake.
