C7 ZO6 ZO7 vs C8 ZO6 ZO7

Keep the manual C7 Z06 unless you get a ridiculous offer. These cars have become highly desired and are commanding a premium. I know the C8 is far superior in tech and suspension advancement and the engine is just magic. But I can’t help but stare at the C7 every time I go to the garage.
Honestly and this will sound strange to you but if my C7Z was auto, i would be more inclined in keeping it LOL. Because i always see these videos of LMR building insane C7Z's and they're mostly all auto. I think in a platform like the C7Z, where i won't be tracking the car, it should be a street monster. In stock form it's a handful but i think a properly built auto C7Z will be the go to car if you want to have street dominance.
That's what i like about the C8Z so much. You can't really mod it lol. GM made the car perfect stock lol. And this car doesn't scare me like my C7Z does. I can literally stomp on the throttle and be ok with it. I still get scared trying to go WOT in 3rd at around 50 in the C7Z.

no, not at all. I have a C5 making nearly 4 digit HP levels and it’s a manual. Lately I have been seriously considering doing an auto swap for the very reasons you mention. It’s already on beadlocks and M/T’s and it still is a handful !!!
it would be insane quick with an auto I think.

I had a 2015 C7 Z06, and it's a huge upgrade to move to a C8 Z06 in my opinion. The C7 Z06 manual has great torque and sounds, but is borderline scary at the limit and is very traction limited. The C8 Z06 in contrast is much more approachable at the limit, more balanced, has excellent traction, and is much more composed overall. My .02.

If the C7Z was a manual, I would have said keep it and keep it good.
But to answer the $70k question, absolutely not. Not for me. You can get a very clean C6Z with a monstrous N/A build (600+whp) for much less than the difference in price alone all in, and the experience that comes with such monster is irreplaceable. Not to mention tweaks you can do cosmetically to make it even more timeless. Or some really nasty builds with the C7Z as well. Absolute monsters and endless joy. If all you care about is the best lap times and world performance on a track, perhaps the C8Z is your option, but "is it worth it" ultimately comes down to you and what brings your gratification.

I'm in the same boat... I have a 2016 M7 Z07 and am getting close with one of the large dealers for a c8 Z06. I can't decide if it's truly worth (to me) twice what I paid for the C7 (bought it used) and don't have the room to keep both. I'm likely going to defer for a 2025 model year for now (i.e. kick the can down the road ).

Currently own a 16 A8 C7.R coupe with about 32k miles. I've driven some C8s, but not a Z. Those experiences convinced me that there's really no doubt that the C8 is a step forward in drivability, particularly as one approaches traction limits. I autocross the car, do some mile events and am considering starting to do some open road racing.
We take extended trips in ours and we can carry enough clothing for two weeks on the road. Our C8 friends are still trying to figure out how to pack the cars most efficiently for traveling. In any case, they have considerably less easily usable luggage space than we do. Also, when on the road we have the area behind the seats for drinks, snacks, tissues, umbrellas and other sundries as needed. Most/all of that stuff would end up either in the passenger footwell or the frunk, neither of which is ideal.
I've been thinking seriously about a new Z. The two things that are keeping me from doing are: 1. The way we use the car, I'm not sure it would really be a huge step up in overall utility/fun. 2. $70k+ is a big pill to swallow for right now for an old, retired guy. So I'll sit on the C7 for a little longer while I think it over. Wishing you happy motoring whichever way you go.
BTW, there are some new Zs selling for MSRP around here, but that is still pretty rare.

Sold my 2017 Z06/Z07 Coupe
I recently sold my Z06/Z07 M7 Coupe to purchase a 2024 Z06/Z07. I am actually somewhat sorry I did. Although the new Z will be a totally different car, my C7 was a beast and was really all I would have ever needed. For two plus times the price I will definitely not get two times the thrill. While I may soon have the latest and greatest Z ever built, is it worth $80-$90k more than the one I just sold for $72,500? NO. I wish I wasn’t so impetuous. Well I’ll always love Corvettes and I’m sure I’m going to love my next, just not sure it was worth it.

I have a C7 Z with Z07 package. I just got my deposit back on a C8 Z. I just cannot justify the amount of money needed to buy a new z. We are currently in a price bubble that is slowly dissipating. Dealers are getting inventory. With that prices will fall. Garage queens will come up for sale. Patience will pay off.

Safety Car
I love my C7 Z06 with Z07 and M7. She makes 730/760 SAE RW and is scary fast. My C8 Z06 is on the way. YAY! Currently I am keeping both. Should I sell one? Champagne problems.

Everybody's price pain points and willingness to defer gratification are different. If the C7Z is still putting a smile on your face, it definitely makes sense to be patient and continue enjoying it. I just wouldn't bet the net out-of-pocket cost will improve by a huge amount relative to the cost of a new z06. If you're thinking used, that may be a different story.

I appreciated the C7Z that much more after owning the C8Z a couple of months. I just don't drive it much since getting the C8Z because of winter and my opportunities to drive any of my toys are limited.
However when warm weather comes and i still reach for that C8Z key each time, then i know it's time to let the C7Z go. Both cars are phenomenal. 2 totally different experiences. If you can keep both, always do that.

I LOVED my C7Z M7. Really regret selling it and still think that car just looks amazing every time I see one. I also love my C8Z. Having both would be ideal and not redundant either. They’re different experiences.

I went from my 2017 C7 ZO6 ZO7 M7 to my 2023 ZO6 70th. Never regretted it for a second. I did have a 2022 HTC for 7 months before buying the C8 ZO6.
The C8 ZO6 is a totally different car.

Plus it is cheap easy to add power to drive away from a C8Z06. Less than an interior option! C7Z06 has better stopping car weighs less weight and easier to make go faster and you can add better rubber too!
Beside better MPG C8z is a gas hog!
