C8 Z06 Transportation Damage :(
So after a 2+ years wait, and ordering the car back in late May giving up half of my specs that I wanted due to constraints (Carbon fiber, Z07 ..etc), the car got damaged coming off the trailer at the dealership this week.
I haven't taken delivery yet, I'm also an out of state buyer, dealer is about 800 miles away. Sales guy sent me some pics of the damage, said they're opening a case with GM since transportation damage by GM transporation is usually GM's responsiblity, they're offering for me to wait until this is figured out, or order a 2024 and wait for 6 more months, Damage is in the bottom of the fiber glass side skirts, to the body experts in here ... if a new painted part gets shipped to the dealer, will it be installed correctly and be the same? I heard those skirts are some sort of chemically bonded to the quarter panels? Any input is appreciated.

I personally would take the Dealer up on the next allocation of a six month wait and getting the exact car you want (Z07 option and all the CF you wanted). You waited this long and you'll probably never be satisfied with the repair (I know I wouldn't), so, to me, I'd wait the six months and re-order the exact model I wanted. But, that's just me...

Yea that's not a "dent repair" fix for sure. Really blows, .. Maybe propose you order one to your original specifications, take this one after it is repaired, keep until the one you wanted shows up and sell this one or trade it back in.
Never hurts to ask.

I would also wait the 6 months and get everything you had to pass on. I don't know where you live but before you know it we'll be heading into Winter so even if you had this one fixed you probably wouldn't have any time to use it. One other thing, I would fight to get the '23 pricing on the '24 and the 500,00 Chevy Rewards Points.....couldn't hurt to try.

On a New Car to have this is type of damage is not an easy correct fix. As noted above all replacement panels are paint to match. this panel is if I am correct is the complete door surround, that is bonded to the frame. Has to be done with high precision. If you are a sticker for being your car being correct, I would order the new car as you wanted it in the first place. You will have to wait at least a few months to have this one repaired correctly.

That isn’t going to be a trivial repair. I’d wait for a replacement car.

Yeah agreed. So idk why people want to wait for a 24.
not like there’s not going to be issues. Stingray entering its 5th MY and there’s still issues.
At this point just pray whatever you’re getting is the good luck one. I’m crossing my fingers on this car.

I remember from the plant tour recently during my R8C delivery, this (1) is the very first painted panel attached to the car. It’s called the door ring. It and every other panel on the car are painted by robots at the same time and hung in the same orientation as it is on the car while being painted.
As others stated, I don’t imagine this is an easy repair for any body shop to fix to factory perfection and you’re about to pay a nice chunk of change for this car.
I don’t envy you, this would be a tough situation to be in, and the dealership and GM will win either way you go.
Best wishes for an acceptable outcome.

If you can get the part pre-painted from the factory, that's the route I would go.
A MY24 is going to cost significantly more.

Tough luck that it happened. I would let them make the repair and only take the car if you're satisfied it was done correctly. Then take whatever other compensation they give you, like extended warranty, free maintenance.

You don't want to take ownership of a new car with significant damage. Work something else out if you can.

Oh man , I’m sorry too. I wouldn’t take the car as it’s NOT a small scratch or dent etc and it’s a brand new car that’s very expensive. Either they fix it and knock off a significant amount from Msrp ~ 15-20k or I’d order a 2024 and wait …

At this point its two choices.
Let the dealer have it fixed before purchase it won't be on any history reports. Its same as if it was fixed at the plant coming off the line sitting in quality control.
Or decline and get a 2024 God knows when for what will be close to $8k more.
If tjat amount of money is not important to you you should get a replacement and this time wait for exactly what you want.
There are body shops near me that could repair that to the point you'd never know. I'm sure its the same near you. Its just a body panel. It happens from time to time.
If your dealer has any pull they could get a factory panel sent from the plant already finished off..
