Default serial # 001

A friend of a friend won a 70th aniv. Z06 HTC last week in a raffle at the museum with serial #001.
Anybody know or have a good idea what this would be worth at this time?

Nope. A prize is a prize. That would be false advertising if you win a "$1 Million dollar prize" and only receive $600K. Contests, lottery winnings, etc are all tax free here.

Hendrick's car wasn't an Anniversary car just the first Z06. Anniversary cars have their own set of serial numbers

Are you sure your friend of a friend didn't win this one?
2023 70th Anniversary Convertible Vin 00002

Middletown, OH
Ticket #0237
Drawn 4/28/2023

I see no 70th Anniversary. Z06 HTC being raffle off or was raffle off recently.

1G1YF3D36P5600003 - Black vert
1G1YF3D39P5700001 - Carbon Flash 70th vert
1G1YF3D30P5700002 - White Pearl 70th vert

Ok well that answers that question so your friend of a friend got a non-Z06 Anniversary car 002 that I listed above.

It's so weird to me that you guys have to pay to win a prize. Not that I have ever won anything crazy significant, but man I'd be pissed if I was required to pay a large sum of money to claim the prize. Thank god we don't have that.

He said it was last week, and that 70th car was in April. Not sure what he actually won, but there have been outfits other than the museum raffling off Z06s. Not VIN 001, though.

Winnings are considered income, and you have to pay income tax on it. That's not true in Canada?

I frequently buy raffle tickets when I stop in the museum, as I drive past it several times a month. I don't remember seeing a Z06 raffle in the past 6-7 months.

The US Government has their hands in our pockets for everything. You can't even sell your own possessions privately now without paying tax, unless you deal in cash. They'll find some way to track and tax that soon.

To date, a Z06 has not been in a National Corvette Museum raffle.

You do not live in the U.S. Lets start with a lottery. You can take the full amount at once and be taxed or payments taxed as you receive them.
Any "gift" or "winnings" is taxable. A state may "choose" not to tax, but the Federal Government (think Biden) ALWAYS taxes.

Per his profile, he is in Alberta. I read somewhere that lottery/raffle winnings are not taxable in Canada.

Correct. We do not get taxed on Lotto or Casino winnings.... but we get nailed on almost everything else 2x!
