After 3 years or so, this finally dropped in my lap! And my sweet daughter came along for the delivery. Traded in the C8 Stingray. I wasn’t expecting the delta between these 2 cars. Every other coupe to Z06 I’ve had (C6 and C7) were clear upgrades, but this one is a stratospheric upgrade. It’s an absolute masterpiece, and the engine is pure brilliance. I’ve only had the 250 mile drive home from delivery so far, so no real driving impressions yet. Very blessed to be in a position to obtain one. Can’t wait to get this out on a track. Just a couple of quick pics….
I have a red mist too and I think the paint quality is actually pretty good. The color has real depth to it and changes depending on lighting. In the sun it looks unbelievable…

The closest to Red Mist I have seen is a Mazda Red and looks great. I don't want to wet sand to clean up orange peel as it takes a lot of work.
The Mazda red is Soul Red Crystal. They did a plain Soul Red for a couple of years but the one you are referencing is the new version. My wife just turned in a Soul Red Crystal (abbreviated as SRC by Miata nerds) Miata RF as the lease was up. The only car around she could find on short notice was Snowflake White Pearl. It's okay but it's no Soul Red Crystal. This is her third RF in a row, I think she's found her 'forever' car.
Congrats on the new Z06. Enjoy it safely and in good health. I know you're a couple hundred miles away yet but just wait for that first rip up to 8600rpm. It's pretty special.
congrats beautiful car! I NEARLY went with Red Mist as it was the FIRST color that reminded me of my 99 C5 with the ORIGINAL Magnetic Red which was a beautiful, beautiful color... ALL of the later versions of it, Mag Red II, Long Beach, etc to me were nowhere near as nice as that 99 mag red. The Red Mist is the first 'candy apple type' red that I seriously considered, great choice. I shocked myself by going silver flare (NEVER owned a silver car always considered it a 'boring' color) UNTIL I saw it in person at the chicago auto show and it almost looks like liquid metal... that combined with the carbon flash black roof and nancells on my inbound HTC Z, will be the way I roll... you really can't go wrong on the Z, every color is great except caffeine of course..
The color itself is gorgeous. It looks like you could dive into it. There’s some orange peel. A little more than I thought there would be. My Torch Red Stingray had very little of it.
I won’t hijack your thread by posting my own Red Mist photos..but I agree with color is amazing in person! I also agree with your comments on the difference between the “base” C8 and the Z06. As ridiculous as it sounds the Z06 feels almost like it it made by an entirely different manufacturer. I noticed a lot of differences immediately, but now after it is broken in and I can open it up abit…the experience (and that is the best way to describe it) is just amazing.
