Thanks to all of you....
Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to corvette forum and all of you crazy vette folks here like me, some of us on here nearly 25 years! In my adult life (still a kid in my head even at 55) I have owned a c4 at 21, c5 mag red z51 vert, c6 twin turbo black w caravagio red interior, c7 stingray, and a 2016 7 Spd manual c7 z07. I sold my c7 Z07 in sept of 2018 and this is the longest by far I have ever been without a corvette. I decided to skip the base stingray years back when it first came out and thought the new Z06 would not be far behind. Then, the geniuses in DC decided to 'shut the world down' for 'two weeks to slow the spread' remember that lie (the first of many)? Anyway, you all know the rest. Massive supply chain disruptions, inflation, paying people to not work, etc. I put down a deposit with MacMulkin I don't know seems like over 3 years ago, long before GM even acknowledged the C8 Z06 existed (vette nuts like us always knew it was coming). On May 23rd of 2023, about a week before my 55th b day, I finally got confirmation from MacMulkin that my allocation was entered currently status 3000.
The wait, as unbearable as it has been, was at least in part mitigated by being able to come to this forum and share information, live 'vicariously' through the lucky few whom have gotten their cars and were kind enough to share their impressions, as well as get ideas regarding PPF, radiator guards, ceramic coatings, and much more. While the nature of the internet is that people have strong opinions and there can be a lot of negative back and forth, as well as a few troll posts (they know who they are) the truth is coming to this forum during this long wait has been a godsend for me.
So, THANK YOU, to all who have contributed and continue to contribute to our strange obsession with the corvette. For me, it's been a long journey. I started out as a car show and road trip guy, progressed to auto crossing and drag racing, and thru the C6 and C7 generations went hard core HPDE road course guy who bought a truck and trailer for the first time in his life, simply to take my vette to great tracks around the country like Road America, Mid-Ohio, NCM, and many others. Met so many great people. Shared lots of great info learned from this forum. Other people may not understand our passion for the corvette, heck, even I don't understand it at times. All I know is growing up in a small low income 900 sq ft house with my 3 siblings in Hammond Indiana, I saw my first vette in 1976 at 8 years old when it cruised down our street (which was a rarity in that neighborhood, it looked amazing to my young eyes, like a spaceship!) I said out loud to my friend sitting in the grass next to me, I am going to have one of those one day, and God Bless America thru hard work and good fortune, I have had many, and now feel so very fortunate to be getting my 'last' corvette, the C8 Z06 HTC. It's the end of an era, we all know what's coming, 'self driving cars', 'electric "silent" one lap wonder cars, etc.... Of course technology marches on and their will be better and faster vettes in the future, but this car for me at least, harkens to a different era, naturally aspirated screaming like a raped ape beast, and, for me at least, this will finally be the one I will never sell....
I know this was a long post, thank you if you decided to take the time to read it, I just truly appreciate this board and all of you, thanks for the memories over the years and for making the wait bearable, I'll post up some pics and impressions when I finally get the car, doing museum delivery for the first time and will make the journey from the NCM thru the blue ridge mountains and the tail of the dragon enroute to home near Raleigh NC with the wife, with the top down, and thankful to be fortunate enough to get one and proud of the USA for putting something like this out, they truly did put the world on notice... see ya on the road or at the track... cheers

Good story, glad you are getting to realize your childhood dream with what will probably be the 'ultimate' driver's Corvette regardless of what more powerful (and heavier) models follow. You're so close now, just a few more weeks! It is going to be so worth it the first time you mat the accelerator and rev her out to 8600rpm.

Great post! I'd love to echo everything you posted!! Pretty much in the same boat as you except I'm 5 years younger LOL. Oh and I haven't gotten into drag racing although that would be fun! Enjoy your car, I'm picking mine up this weekend!
