Cleaned my Z’s today
Among other things, cleaning both Z’s was on the agenda for today. I finished up with the C7Z just as it was getting dark. I love the C8Z, but still love rowing through the gears in the C7Z from time to time.

I will take some close ups of the wheels this weekend. Been too busy with work lately to spend much time enjoying the cars.
As far as a comparison, they are really like comparing apples and oranges. The C7Z we’ve had since it rolled off the assembly line in December of 2014.
Our C7Z is an M7, and there was no way I was about to give up having the true manual with gobs of torque. Whereas the C7Z is very torquey in just about any gear/at any speed, the C8Z really needs to drop a gear or two to feel that same punch.
However, the sound of the flat plane crank when you do drop it a gear or two, is intoxicating. I would say my C7Z sound is equally loud, but only because I have the Borla cat-back exhaust on it. The C8Z just whales like a pissed off banshee. Don’t get me wrong, I have mymode set up to be quiet, so it can be just a cruiser. But when I really want to open her up, she screams.
A few years ago, I put the ZR1 style aero on my C7Z. Since then I rarely see the traction light flash when going through sone of our windy, hilly roads. Back when I had just the stage 2 aero, the C7Z would break loose at the rear much more frequently. The C8Z, however, seems pretty well weighted down with that engine in the rear. I’ve only lost traction a couple of times in 6,000 miles, and that’s without the big aero and wing.
The fit and finish of both are great, but I will say the C8Z is a small step up. I’d put it on par with my wife’s 2021 Escalade, but that could be because I splurged and ordered a 3LZ on the C8Z, and only a 2LZ on the C7Z.
One big thing that is worth pointing out, is just how “thirsty” the C8Z is. I think I’m averaging 15-16 miles per gallon, and that’s with most of my driving being highway miles. I routinely get in the mid 20’s mpg in my C7Z. Part of the fuel efficiency dilemma with the C8Z is just that the LT6 sounds so good when it’s really revving high.

I designed my big garage (toybox) to be tall enough to put two lifts in every bay, so I can hold up to twenty toys in that garage. We also have “the stables” directly across from the toybox, where my wife and son keep their rides. The stables have a saferoom and enclosed corridor that attaches to the house, so the wife doesn’t have to get out in the weather to get to her Escalade.
