Calling the bluff: what sports car would you have bought instead that can fit them?

Keep in mind there are also many people who did not buy the C8 because the golf bag requirement resulted in a rear end design/shape that many agree is hideous, or at the very least could have been improved.

looked at a Porshe 911 and even less space. Would have bought an M4 BMW competition but have only had vettes as sports cars. Avid golfer who likes to drive my vette to the golf courses

Porsche has kept to the GT3 to a weight gain of about 5% over the past 15 years or so.

The Z06 curb weight has increased by around 17%.

Imagine if the new C8 Z06 had a curb weight of 3,300lbs, or even 3,500lbs.

GM cares more about adding a golf cart than light weight.

2022 GT3 with PDK, 20 front and 21 inch aluminum wheels and CCM brakes has a curb weight of 3222 lbs, https://www.caranddriver.com/porsche/911-gt3-gt3-rs
so about 500 lbs less than the C8Z06.

Construction of the GT3 is from the 992 chassis, with a few lightweight body panels substituted. https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2019...ogy-17111.html

"The proportion of aluminium alloy components used in the 992 bodyshell has been dramatically increased in comparison to its predecessor model, with extruded aluminium profiles used for elements including the front and rear main chassis members, interior and exterior door sills, and floor bracing. Cast aluminium parts are used on the front shock mount, the rear tunnel cell and the impact absorber mounts. The outer shell of the new 911 is assembled completely from aluminium, with the exception of the front and rear apron. Only the parts that surround the passenger compartment are made from hot-formed steel, in order to provide the maximum possible protection for occupants.

This intelligent material mix means that the bodyshell of the eighth-generation 911 is no heavier than its predecessor, despite slightly larger dimensions and higher safety requirements. “Depending on the version, we are looking at just 240 to 280 kg,” explains Steffen Soyez, head of the bodywork plant.

and look at what two years of all that got them...

Sales are so poor even Porsche now is saying the heavier Turbo for an additional 70K is a better car for the track.
The quintessential admission of a GT3 fiasco.

Am I missing something? I thought it was next to impossible to get an allocation for a 992 GT3. That doesn't translate to poor sales.

FOMO marketing BS to pump the price ala bitcoin.
Nobody is ordering GT3s. They will be lucky if they sell 100 MY23 units.

There are a lot of coolers and they add weight for the right reason..

3700lbs ++ does not bode well for tire and brake wear. Hopefully the is also a f@ckton of brake cooling front and rear.
This much power and this much weight will be tough to keep cool at Sebring but after the C7 Z06 cooling fail, I'm sure they over compensated this time?

A GT4RS is about 3300lbs, only 500HP with massive brakes and brake cooling.

@Telepierre Happy Holidays to you and your family. I did not see this about the sales - Can you send me details on the Turbo S that you mentioned? The reason I ask is that my friend is on the list in Florida (First one) for the GT3RS and they have allocation for 2 immediately. Thus, I want to share with him so he has this (He might not change his mind and this car is for his wife).

I don't think Porsche is saying that, it was gleaned from a Carwow youtube video of a test between GT3 and Turbo S which showed two drivers having quicker track times in the TS than the GT3 due to the extra hp of the TS.

Don't worry when GM is all EV only and the next vette is EV only you guys will learn to embrace her and all her weight too boot. Just think how fantastic all that instant torque and power will be going down the road/track with another 1000 lbs under your ***. Oh it's going to be awesome. I can't wait. What a fantastically powerful tank she will be. I wonder what the weight conversations will like then?

Are you asking for details on sales for the turbo S or details from Porsche stating the turbo S is a better track car than the GT3?

Please note the GT3RS is not US homologated yet.

The C7 Z06 cooling lawsuit did not even make it to court and the perpetrators of the fraud duly paid their dues.

And so you are in the old ladies rumors circles. Good for you.

Next time just premise that is your source so we can move on to more serious matters.

Thanks!
