Default An Everyman’s Early Review of the Z06

I can summarize the car in two words: The car is PISSED OFF.l!!! In the first eighth of a mile off the lot, you can immediately sense that this is a COMPLETELY different car than a stingray.

I love the stingray. It is a great cruiser when it wants to be and it’s happy to be driven aggressively when you are in the mood as well. The Z06…even in tour mode… never feels quiet or tame. It’s almost begging you to drive it hard. I think that Chevrolet should deliver the cars with 500 miles on it, because the temptation mash it is overwhelming.

Everybody has seen photos by now. I have a non Z07. In person, even without the high wing (I put the extended wicker’s on), the car has a much more intimidating stance. The wideness of it hits you immediately. It makes a stingray look absolutely skinny.

The interior is pretty much the same with the exception of some badging. I did get the carbon fiber 2 package, and stealth. I love both. They give the interior a very rich feel.

The sound is crazy, even in Tour mode. I think somebody said there was a stealth mode and somebody’s going to have to tell me how to get to it because that is what my wife is going to want to hear when she is in the car. The exhaust in ZMode is like music, you almost want to keep the radio off.

It’s cold here in New York, colder than I would drive the stingray, so I certainly was very cautious about testing any curves. I could sense immediately that the brand new tires were slippery right off the lot. So I’ll have to pass on giving a review of handling so far.

The ride is absolutely significantly firmer than the stingray. But it is certainly not punishing. I’m not sure I would have the same opinion in the Z07 (which I plan on experiencing at Ron Fellows…)

Congrats to the Chevrolet team for building another winner. I am happy to answer any and all questions.

Minor issues: The LPO items did not ship with the car. This included black lug nuts, Carbon Flash badges and premium mats. They were never shipped out of BG. Also, the brake air intakes, which are supposed to be dealer installed....I was given two RIGHT side ducts, and no left. They are sending new ones to me....but this is a non-issue for now as im not tracking the car and we are months away from warm weather.

I am an awful photographer, I’m sorry.

Lol, I thought you meant you were summarizing your impression of the car as “pissed off”. I was looking through your whole review to figure out what upset you.

I think you meant it as the car is pissed off, or aggressive.

Is the trim above the glove box stealth as well? It looks much lighter in your photos but could be the reflections.

Congrats! Here's a couple more pics of your car a friend texted to me this morning (I had no idea it was yours at the time and she had no idea it was a Z06)

It looks like you took it to share with your Dad. I am sure he would approve.

The one in the lot was texted to me at 807am. The one next to your stingray was sent at 148pm.

I assume this corresponded with her dropping off and picking up her car

Thanks much for sharing your impressions.
I'd like to ask you a big favor.
Could you be kind enough to post your impressions on the car set up in stealth mode for all the options. For the exhaust, engine revving and transmission stealth mode is weather mode.

Thanks and congratulations!

One thing that DOES make me happy about the launch of this car is knowing that the Forum members who've gotten their cars already are deserving of it. I'm glad to see they're enjoying it vs some of the d-bag Youtubers.

Congrats ! Beautiful car. Nothing better than being one of the first to own a special car like this. Enjoy the exclusivity!

also can you please advise me on your interior order ? I love what you have there , not too much and not too little
how exactly do you order that interior.
thanks and enjoy in good health !

My order should be coming up quickly and I am still undecided. Elkhart blue with this interior very possible for me. I wonder if this interior can be ordered with a black exterior ?

Any engine vibration at cold start? Was curious if the engineers were able to mitigate it. Thanks and congrats on your new Z06.

I know it's all personal preference but man, I really don't like the way the C8 looks as a convertible. Either way, I'm glad you like the car.
