Looking for the 90,000$ over letter
Someone told me there was a picture of a dealer charging 90,000K over and keeping a 6K deposit.
If the deal fell thru, buyer would lose his deposit, so the dealer could restock, remarket etc the Z!

Dealers can ask whatever they want. Free economy. Vote with your wallet, and much of the nonsense stops.

The non-fundable deposit once ordered is standard practice at most dealers, however, the $90K over MSRP is simple greed.

Looks odd in that it doesn't say when the person will actually get to order the car. Is it now or 3 years from now?

The ONLY way an ADM is remotely justified (IMO) is the GUARANTEE that you get your car QUICKLY. Any dealer that thinks he's going to get an ADM on a car delivered in 2025 is, IMO, dreaming.

I'm not sure about how california law works, but I bet you could get around it by calling it a marketing and blah blah blah fee credited towards your purchase

This isn’t unscrupulous, it’s a fair and honest business practice.

They could get away with a big ADM without drawing so much flak on themselves. But they chose to swing for the fences and got hammered for it. If they kept it at something like $30-50k.. people would have been pissed but they would'nt have been the huge target for the mob.

Keep in mind it is refundable until the order, with your specific options, colors, and style is accepted by GM and no longer modifiable. At that point, the dealership is on the hook for your car. I’m sure they’re legally allowed at that point to make it non-refundable, considering most dealers do this and it has been done this way for decades.

regarding California, I was told specifically by a person at Boardwalk Chevy (yes, that dealership) that deposits in this state are 100% refundable up to and including the day you pick the car. You could order the car, have it built to your specifications, and decide at the last minute you changed your mind and don’t want it anymore. You’re still getting your money back by law.

I would say it is unscrupulous. Just look at the stated "reasons" for the charge: Restocking? Marketing? Merchandising? Can anyone say that with a straight face? They just want to take advantage should the prospective buyer have some bad luck and not be able to close the dear or they find a more reputable dealer that will sell at Z06 at a fairer price or.......Now if the person was ordering an ordinary car with some crazy color schemes I could see it, but a Z06?

I personally will not pay above MRSP, If its not the Z06 then its the GT3 especially how its all priced where I live in the same price range!
