5VM and 1VM

I believe one is exposed carbon fiber and the other is painted over in carbon flash metallic.

FWIW, when the 1st Build-A-C8 website came out it had two aero options.
5VM in visible Carbon Fiber and
5W8 carbon fiber painted Carbon Flash at $1000 less (which is what I had on my 2017 Grand Sport and wanted. Did not want to start that visible CF as I did my 2014. Once you start it doesn't stop!
When I placed the order with Kerbeck (now Ciocca) the 5W8 was removed by GM. So was forced to order the 5VM as I won't drive a Vette in our area without side skirts! Too many pebbles on the road and the rocker panels get marked quickly!
That was constrained so I ordered a 5VM copy from C7 Carbon in painted Carbon Flash. For $100 more they have the same with a finished layer of real carbon fiber NOT a vinyl faux CF! Had that on my 2014.

5VM is the GM option code for the aero package option on the C8 Stingray. It looks just like the 5VM aftermarket part pictured above. (It also includes side skirts with winglets at the rear.)
1VM is the designation used by a couple of aftermarket companies for their products without the winglets on the spoiler and side skirts. That's not a GM option at all.
And no, it's not the difference between exposed CF or painted.

Do we know of anyone who has the front splitter ready to order yet? I’m thinking it won’t be until the first batch of cars are in customers’ hands, but you never know…
