GM has to get 700lbs out of the ZO6. To say that this is the most track focused car they have ever built, while weighing 3700lbs+ is ludicrous. I think the ZO6 will be an amazing engine wrapped in a let down of a car. If they ever sell the drivetrain as a crate engine, then I will buy one and put it in an Ultima RS, or whichever version they're selling at the time.
edit: I'll compromise and reduce that to 500lbs at a minimum.

so how do you suppose they could do that? more advanced materials would lead to a more advanced price. less options would cause people to wonder why they paid so much for a car that doesn’t have the same features as their escalade. not saying I disagree with you about the weight, i’m just curious what could actually be done to improve it within the realm of reasonable trade offs.

You should collaborate with that guy who was insisting on GM making a twin turbo "street Z06" for the same price as the normal one. It would be a good fit as both ideas have the same chances of happening.

Paper specs discussions can go so far...
Drive or ride in a Lamborghini STO or a 992 GT3 (like I did) and THEN determine if the ride in those cars is worth 500/700 pounds. It's definitively not worth it in the GT3 NHVs but maybe the STO is different.

edit: I actually applaud Porsche for not dulling the GT3 for people who want one without the compromises. They already make a car for those people, its the Carrera or Turbo.

GM has to balance creating a car that it can sell in the tens of thousands for a "reasonable" price--and with reasonable maintenance costs--with one that a small number of people will track for a 5-hour periods of time. I've never ridden in an STO but everything I've read and watched about it indicates it's not a car you'd want to drive on a regular basis. Unlike what I assume the new Z06 will.

GM makes a car for the every day, its called the Stingray. Just like Porsche makes the Carrera and the Carrera S. The GT3 does not sell in large numbers, and there are always used ones for sale because people with more money than brains buy one without knowing what it is and end up hating it because its loud and rides rough, etc... Those people should save money and buy a Carrera. Just like GMs corvette buyers could buy a standard Stingray. Otherwise, why bother making more than one version if they're all going to do the same thing? Think of the money GM could save if they just made one version of the Corvette.

I don’t think what you are proposing is going to do well in the current market, let alone continue to attract more buyers and hype which is what GM wants.
Using myself as an example, I’m 29 years old. I’m a relatively high earner for my age. I have had interest in corvettes my whole life and especially the c8. I already have a modded 2021 GT500 which will leave the c8 stingray for dead on the highway. I also have many friends in my age range with all sorts of cars modded to make 700+ whp that would completely **** on a stingray. None of us is interested in spending $100,000 on a car with only 670 hp that’s good for nothing but the track and then be forced to drive a boring shitbox Monday - Friday and everywhere besides the track because the car is missing standard comfort features.
We want a car that’s going to smoke **** at the track should we choose to go, that’s also going to be comfortable being taken across state lines or just casually leaving some random 60-130 on the highway after work or on the way to grab a bite to eat.

That's what a track focused car feels like. If you don't want that, get a Carrera or a Turbo. The corvette corollary would be, get a Stingray or a ZR1. The Stingray is the car for the Saturday morning tee time crowd, and the ZR1 is the perfect car for the I just want to mash the pedal in a straight line and go fast while having all my conveniences, crowd. The ZO6 is alleged to be a track car. It isn't. But they made this awesome engine for it, and they really should make the rest of the car match that.

The Z06 has been alleged and proved to be a track car in court of law. If someone wants to revive that 'track capable' trial balloon there is plenty of legal precedence and can only wish them good luck.

I can play the same game just to offset your fallacy in your market perception. If you really want a track focused car buy the incoming C8 Z06 GT3 or any CX.R readily available for purchase.

2) I drink black coffee, that costs $10 nowhere. There are coffee's with more caffeine, incidentally, that's not Starbucks because they burn their coffee on purpose to deliver a consistent experience at all their stores. That reduces the caffeine content.
3) Have you never had a chocolate covered coffee bean?
What would I do? I make my coffee at home...
