Default Anyone beside myself got Z06 BURNOUT?

The carrot seemingly is always just out of reach. The thrill of anticipation has LONG since gone for me. My deposit has been in two years and counting. No longer anxious, just getting more bored with the lame tidbits of uselessness that trickles out about when, where, or what will be. Very disappointing.

Where I am on the list means i’m at least 3 years away. When I think about what the world was 3 years ago, and realize what it might be 3 years from now, I can’t help but wonder if i’m wasting my time with this thing.

I feel the same way somewhat. These are exciting times with several iterations coming out but I feel GM has not taken advantage of this opportunity. Maybe because they know they really don’t have to “sell” or market theses as the lists are very long. Same old stuff on these forums. Im really tired of the stupid Youtube videos with nothing new and the clickbait titles with the host always having the stupid shocked expression. Also people that are 1500 plus on MM list letting us know they have not moved down every week. Ive seen several Z’s in person luckily, but still have not heard one rev or even start up. Hopefully I will this summer.
Im okay waiting just wish the flow of info was a little better.

I’m fine.

Sure they could have waited to reveal the car so it was closer to the projected release date. Their really isn’t enough information about any car to keep people entertained for 9-12 months, especially if the car isn’t at a point where GM is ready to give out cars to reviewers.

But they have always just said “available summer 2022.” So it’s not like they are missing dates yet. The C7 Z06 was a solid year from reveal to customers taking delivery.

I do wish they would just release pricing already. Or at least give us an idea of when they will. Even if it’s just a base price for now with detailed option prices to follow on later.

Already knew I was in for a wait of about a couple years at least… so not sweating the slow release. If I was on tap for an earlier MY2023, I’m sure I’d be much more annoyed.

Nope. Just don't get obsessed with it and try to focus on other fun things/hobbies. That's what I do. When the time comes I'll be ready. Right now I'm enjoying my like brand new 2019 GS 2LT M7 and not really looking forward to giving it up (hey maybe I won't!). I think that helps.

I am feeling the burn out but like the poster above me mentioned, I'm just trying to focus on other things. Work, projects on my home, etc... Been trying to stay off the forum every other day or so when I can. Sad thing is I'll make it 2 days and think "surely there's some new news now!". I log in and it's Plaid V Z06 and Emotional threads

Pricing sure would be nice and keep us entertained for quite a while seeing what our builds will cost. Then I can just watch my calculated payment increase each month we wait as interest rates rise

Feel similar to OP. Buying a C5Z on Friday to hold me over. My friends say it's just a 'snack' in the meantime. Accurate sentiment.

Definitely agree. I think that having the procing information would go a long way to alleviate this.

I keep checking to see whether or not pricing info is available. I wish GM would just release it. They can always make minor adjustments after the fact. Surely they know what they will be charging. Why not just give us the information.

Patience goes a long way. Especially since this is the last of its kind. I’m 300s on mm list and I know I won’t see it in year 2024. So got on the stingray list. Already moved up like 40 spots in 5 weeks lol. So I should be driving a 2023 stingray exactly one year from now. Good enough to hold me off until the z06 comes.

During the IMSA race at Laguna Seca about 2.5 weeks ago I exited the restroom and saw my wife talking to talking to Tadge. This was in the Corvette Coral right after the race had started and nobody else was near them. She knew Tadge is important but not how important. We talked uninterrupted for several minutes. He said they are having passionate ongoing internal discussions about pricing and have not yet settled on numbers. He did assure me that pricing will be decided upon and announced sometime in June.

I was on the fence when the build up was happening and then a little unsure once the car was released. As time has gone by, I realized that as great as the C8Z is, it's just not for me--at least right now it isn't. I'll enjoy the car vicariously through other people and I will continue to watch these cars closely.

Good points smithers. Adding one more that Josh Holder noted at the Bash that they did not have a choice but to reveal the Z06 as early as they did because they had to test at Nurburgring last August and those video and screen grabs were already out, adding “that we can not test our high performance versions with camo on them.”

I'll bet those are some interesting discussions! I think the Z06 is a little more expensive to build than a lot of folks think, and GM probably initially considered a lower retail price point based on anticipated customer demand and, at that time, real-world economy considerations. Now that it is becoming apparent that customers are willing to pay often exorbitant market adjustments for the product, there is room for GM to introduce the car at a more reasonable (for them) price. Since there is a cap (MSRP plus market adjustment mark-up) on what the market will bear to ensure a sell-out of production capability (I will predict somewhere around $150K) , then a higher than anticipated MSRP could ultimately cut into the ridiculous dealer mark-ups, putting the profit where it belongs - in the hands of the producers of a remarkable machine. I am reminded of the pricing turmoil of the Gen V Viper. When it was released in 2013 with an MSRP of $120K or so, a lot sat on dealer showrooms and SRT eventually dropped the price by $15K, even sending refund vouchers to early purchasers. Then when the limited production ACR-E was released in 2016 with an MSRP generally below $150K, many dealers sold with a small mark-up. But by 2017 the price on many of the special edition cars had risen to $175K or so, and sales dropped to the point that a large dealer bought the last 200 (IIRC) cars for speculative inventory. Five years later you can seldom touch a used ACR for under $250K, most are approaching or exceeding $300K, and a couple of no-miles "wrapper" cars have sold for around $400K. I guess my point is that the Z06 is probably a $150K car in today's market, but the bulk of any profit should go to the manufacturer, not the dealer. I think that is GM's dilemma in announcing a final MSRP. The dealers may have done GM a favor by conducting an ad hoc market survey, but they may have shot themselves in the foot. The car will continue to appreciate, so a purchaser will never get hurt - unless the economy really takes a tumble, but that's another discussion. Sorry for the ramble. .
